| class comments : | There was a good ratio of guys to girls. The class didn't require TOO much work, but since you're standing up in front of a group, you don't want your speeches to suck. A lot of people dropped the 8AM class, so we often got out really early on speech days. I didn't buy the book- only borrowed one to read before the midterm exam and did fine that way. Since we had a small class and were forced to talk, we became pretty close as a class, which is unique in my experience here. |

The key to making a good grade was getting on her good side, and speaking in class a lot. Her grading didn't seem very consistent, but if you were on her good side, it helps a lot. |

Public speaking ... jump for joy. It's a really good class to have if you haven't done presentations before. I took debate in high school for three years and was used to speaking in front of groups from the student organizatino I was in. |

Most of the people in there were either freshman or had full-time jobs. You could tell from the discussions (and who was going to fail/dropout) and way people were dressed. |

| course comments : | I was dreading this class but it turned out to be one of the best classes I've taken. You spend most of your time listening to other speeches and there isn't much lecture. You can put as much into your speeches as you want. More emphasis is placed on presentation so just make sure you get a lot of rehearsal and you're pretty much guaranteed an A. |

She did everything she could to make you feel comfortable and placed special emphasis on getting to know your other classmates which was cool. Class always got out on time and sometimes early. She does take attendance but it's not a huge part of your grade and she gives extra credit if you want to make up those points. The book was a helpful for tests but that's about it. She tells you what will be on the tests so just study that and don't bother keep |

Mindy does a great job of getting everyone in the class to become friends and be comfortable talking in front of eachother. The class is 5 speeches, one midterm and a final. Attendance was mandatory, if you missed more than a couple days you lost points. You get a point of extra credit on your final grade for attending speakers outside of class. I think everyone got A's in here. |

You do get some time at the beginning of the semester to read but once you start doing speeches then most stop reading. There is little discussion of what the book contains. The basics of what a speech needs is covered but not in detail nor with enough examples from the past. The speeches take a lot of work and research.
