is able to completely destroy this website?

i'm very confused by this...

because whenever something weird happens (slowdowns, this morning's outage) it seems like ya'll just lock the biggest thread you can find...

how does that solve anything?

because when someone views that thread it is pulling a very large section from the database, using up resources.

actually they are unrelated.... while i was doing maintenance this morning (patches, etc) i figured i'd lock some of the problem threads.
