I mean, the picture of the dude with his insides coming out was really progressive and thought provoking. It brought so much to the thread. I thought about promoting the user to a superuser, but then realized that suspending people is much more fun.

Note that it says user, not board. Assuming that everyone was online at the right time to read the few threads it was posted in is pretty asinine. Put it in the rules, or warn, but don't suspend infrequent users on their first offense for breaking an unwritten rule, there's no reason for that.

Hell, I'm a frequent user and this is the first time I've heard that from an official source. FFS I got suspended for posting the goatse set (note, set, and not just the single picture. most haven't seen the set, it's pretty rare, so it was a post with content and was warmly received as such by several users) in a thread about a movie of a horse fucking someone in the ass (so it obviously wasn't thread bombing or unexpectedly vulgar), without a warning or even an explanation at that (I heard second-hand), and I had never heard of this rule... at the time I had something like 12600 posts at ~60/day.

Most of the written rules aren't enforced, most of the enforced rules aren't written, suspending people without an explanation doesn't curb the behavior, while a simple warning of an offense's offensive nature often would.

Short version: if you're going to operate under the pretense of moderating the board, at least fucking try to pretend. If you had any interest at all in actually improving the environment here, you'd at least post a thread, send an e-mail, do something to explain the suspension. This find-someone-doing-something-we-haven't-gotten-in-trouble-for-suspending-people-before-and-suspend-them-cause-I'm-in-a-bad-mood shit has got to stop.

1) randomly suspending people days after it happens isnt cool. i realize what i did was wrong or whatever, but christ, i couldnt even remember doing it. if youre going to suspend someone, do it immediately rather than have them wondering what the hell they did wrong.

2) the picture was disgusting, but people post disgusting pictures all the fucking time. what makes a guy shitting his intestines out any worse than a girl covered in cum, or a guy fucking another guy, or any of the other bullshit that gets posted in chit chat? crack down on EVERYONE.

3) that lame ass thread deserved to go down anyways.

I just happened upon it days later. The fact that I noticed it days later doesnt excuse it. When CrazyJ was the only person suspending, it could take wakes for someone to get suspended.

I've been pretty uniform. I can refer you to at least one other person I suspended for doing something similar. If you really wanted to post that disgusting photo, you could create a thread, make it very obvious its gonna be disgusting if you click, and then create it.
