The stand on the bottom is kinda flakey. Doesnt look too bad overall though. I like their new logo.

can someone host those on Imageshack.us b/c my filter here blocks gaming sites.

And what *IS* that stand for anyway? The system itself looks like a huge SD memory card.

it's not showing up for anyone but you because the pictures rename themselves to keep from being hotlinked

they only show up for you because you already have them cached

What are you talking about? The GC is tiny, especially compared to the XBX and original PS2.

on a different note

thats from the nintendo e3 presentation. newsflash for you nintendo: thats what america is about. maybe in japan thats fine, but over here, if you want to hang, stop catering all to the kiddies. they seem to be innovators but when it comes to some major points they are just a step behind.

1) online gaming
2) non-proprietary media (n64 cartdridges, mini-optical disks, and FINALLY a dvd format)
3) making it easier to developers to develop for their systems (n64 was a bitch, gc tried to address that)

Yeah I'm not really sure about that stand. It just seems to me that the thing would tip over too easily. Besides, isn't it best for optical disks to be read such that their flat sides are parallel with the ground, or does it really matter? But whatever, as long as I can keep playing Nintendo games.

1) This is just me personally, but I have little interest in multiplayer support, let alone online play.

2) So what if their gaming systems use their own style of media? Even if all consoles put their games on DVD's it's not like you'd be able to play X-Box or PS games on a Nintendo anyway.

3) Not sure how to address that. What exactly do you mean "n64 was a bitch," you mean in terms of hardware or what?

proprietary media increases cost to developers and reduced the overall number of games made for the system. In the n64 case, the limitations of the format allowed sony to take over the console market with cd-based games

this is rediculous. I cannot wait for this thing to drop. Screw the new Xbox & PS3, I want this. Hittin' up some old school GoldenEye in widescreen w/ new controllers will blow my mind...and if they can somehow add network support (i.e. 16 man matches) this thing will rule all.

1) I hear you. I have no qualms about it either way but for sometimes I enjoy multiplayer or online gaming. So having this is a plus, regardless of I'd use it all the time or not. But it seems to be a thing that people point to when they talk about technology and how Nintendo isn't with it.

2) I think the reason for a good amount of longevity for the GB is its backwards compatibility. I should have emphasized that. I think a good amount of momentum was carried over to the PS2 because of its backwards compatibility. In addition, the selling point of being able to play dvds was a plus for alot of people in the PS2 and Xbox arena. Personally it didnt matter to me but it is kinda nice to have it, especially if you dont want to go out and buy a dvd player. You could, sure, watch your dvds on your computer but if you have a 27" tele compared to a 21" monitor, which would you rather watch it on?

3) A good deal of developers moved over to the PS originally because of the alienation and difficulties they met/felt from trying to develop for the N64. They'd have to buy expensive proprietary hardware in order to develop n64 games and just the language was difficult in of itself. In the GC, they specifically said they'd try to make it easier to develop. This was just said at the E3, so you know they're putting quite a bit of emphasis on this:
Quote :
"9:27 am: Iwata: Convinced game development on Revolution will be easier and far less costly than for other machines. "Big idea can prevail over big budget." Revolution is a solution to help maximize creative freedom."

If this system is indeed slot-loading, I wonder how the thing is going to play GC disks without an add-on.

while backwards compatibility is nice, i already own all those systems. id rather buy a used one for cheap than pay full retail again like what they did on the gameboy with NES games. either way should be nice to see how it pans out against xbox and ps3. i have a feeling they'll end up with the GC route. good at first but ending up with mostly just good first party.

I highly doubt they would charge much for downloading the game. There is a big different from downloading something, and then mass producing it and shipping it and selling it in stores. They aren't gonna charge 50 bucks to download Super Mario Brothers.

the thing about nintendo is, the games they announced today justify getting a system at launch and keeping it forever. the only game I'm even vaguely interested in on the ps3/xbox side is perfect dark zero, and the screens of that look like shit

^^Let's hope they don't pop some BS song "Row, row, row your boat" in the game

I'll play it mainly for the Nintendo remixes.

1.

"Added attachment can be used to play movies and other DVD content. Machine has 512 MB of onboard flash memory for data storage.
"

2.
Quote :
"Already working on several wifi games for launch. Smash Bros. will be launch game -- wifi. "

3. I wish they'd show the damn controller the Revolution will have or something.
4. I surprised DDR with Mario got big cheers.
5. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO MARIO 128?
6. The download feature is nice, but I think I've played all the Nintendo games I'd want to play. I hope they get Capcom and other companies in on the deal.
7. The info's encouraging but it didn't exactly set my world on fire.

^^ Exactly. If I get a Nintendo Revolution and all that ever comes out is DDR:Mario Mix, a mutiplayer version of Mario Kart, a new GoldenEye, and a multiplayer Smash Brothers, I'm set.

And of course, my GameCube bongos BETTER be compatible if I can load the Donkey Konga game in there. (however I don't see this happening)

Add on top of that some old school gaming and you've got a killer box, for probably $199 or not much more on launch day. I might be weird but this seals it for me. I'll gladly get an Xbox 360 after it can be modded, and I've just never been a Sony console fan, but you just cannot beat the Nintendo 1st party titles and it's multiplayer appeal. I can't count the abscences Mario KartD alone caused me a few semesters back.
