why not? every single position is filled by a phenomenal player. as long as we gel together, any offense will have a helluva time moving the ball on us.

So the Panthers, 2 months out of training camp will be better than the mid-80s Bears. The 2000 Ravens. The Doomsday Defense, The purple people eaters, the no-name defense, etc, etc.

They'll win their share of games, and maybe the division, but they are not anywhere remotely near as good as any of the afore mentioned defenses, even on paper.

they should be pretty good this upcoming year with their offseason FA acquisitions, their draft picks, and their players returning from injuries last year, ie our best WR, the NFL's best defensive lineman, etc

How exactly are you defining "phenominal"? Some are top-class, say top 3 in their position (Peppers, Jenkins, Morgan) but the rest aren't.

^^^but that success is what they achieved once all the 2nd and 3rd string replacements got a chance to gel into the system a bit...you could easily say the people who dont think the Panthers will do well are blinded by the underperforming at the beginning of the season

Best defense ever? Nope. 1986 New York Football Giants. Name one linebacker on the Panthers that come close to any of the linebackers from that team.

If Foster can stay healthy and Smith can play like he did before he got hurt, and the OLine can get the job done, we're in business.
