Here is the chance for us TWW goons to get together and actually make a pass down a real racetrack. No matter wether or not you are a die hard car guy or a speed freak dont be afraid to come out anyway. If you have never done it before its easy and youll have a blast. Prices below...

ALSO if we go the 16th or 30th they are having a wheelie contest that wont be packed but should bring out some serious contenders ($1000 reward). We could meet in the Brier Creek area and ride together through Durham to Roxboro. Its not really a long drive or anything, I wont hesitate to drive my Olds and show off how slow it really is. Now that I think about it, it gives me a reason to tune it up a little.

that map is from some place around burlington. from my office, it's about 10-15 miles to the turn off of 501. from there, i'd guess about another 5 miles to the gates. i can make it to halifax, va in an hour so getting to roxboro in 20 min. isn't much of an issue

oh my bad ivan i thought you worked in this area still

anyway

my car has a ton of peg-leg wheelspin, currently has a battery problem, is severely underjetted, and could probably use some plugs and a bigger air filter but yeah ill still run it. I need to change the oil and clean it up some and shit like that but I want to make at least one pass this summer.

I used to go to in high school. I just realized that it's only ~15 miles from my friends house. Unfortunately, we didn't go back roads, and made that a 30 mile route. Damnit.

^^ ANY car that drives and isnt falling apart can make a pass, it comes down to who is or isnt too much of a pussy to do it.
Tech inspection wont be very strict (most likely non existant) and its $5 to do it, theres no excuses guys.
LIke I said its fun, exiting, and easy. This isnt bracket racing, or anything complicated. If anyone here is on the fence but youre afraid of not knowing what to do,
I and a few other guys on here can go through a step by step of how it goes down.

^ violent WHO? Sure thing we can set up something else later on too. I know I will be trying my hardest to get out there Saturday and if it goes well I might have some more tweaks to make to get more out of the car. Here is what I see on the site:

Quote :
"STARTING FRIDAY JULY 15TH
ROXBORO MOTORSPORTS WILL BE OPEN FOR TEST-N-TUNE IN
ADDITION TO OUR REGULAR WEDNESDAY NIGHT TEST-N-TUNE.

GATES OPEN AT 6:00 PM

TEST-N-TUNE FROM 7-11

ADMISSION: $8
TEST-N-TUNE: FREE ON FRIDAY

WEDNESDAY NIGHT TEST-N-TUNE
GATES OPEN AT 5:00 PM
TEST-N-TUNE FROM 6-10
ADMISSION: $8
TEST-N-TUNE: $5

WOOT looks like Friday nights T&T is free so maybe I can stir up some more interest from you cheap bastids???

ivan thats exactly what I was thinking, these guys act like they are too good to drive 1/8th mile in a straight line. i get so tired of reading all the "autox this" and "autox that" shit in here.

zip you should come out, youll have the shortest drive.

Only thing they told me the other night was I had to have my windows up to run. There was no tech inspection to speak of. I think they had a lot of traction compound down in the left lane or something cause I didnt spin much at all.

Heres the breakdown of the whole night, now that I have time to type it all out. I got there and parked the car for about half an hour to let it cool off while I walked around and got the feel of the place. When I started it back up and pulled up to the staging lanes the temp was about 190- a little high but I wanted to get a practice run in. To get in the waterbox here you have to pull up into the lane and then back up 30 or so feet so I didnt have to worry about that. I didnt burn out, I didnt adjust tire pressures any untill my 3rd run.

First pass: When the lights came down I floored it and it instantly hesitated, BAD! It does that sometimes when hot, especially coming off idle. But I kept my foot in it and it recovered after a short delay.

Second pass: I was glad to make the first pass in the low 10's but dissapointed in the hesitation so I immediately went right back up to make another pass, this only a very very slight hesitation, almost like a delay from when I hit the gas to the car taking off.
RT: .276
I1: 2.32
I2: 6.57
ET: 10.084
MPH: 71.028

Haha yeah 10 flat I was pleased (for the moment) and parked the car for almost an hour to let it cool more completely. When I restarted it the temp was 160.

THird pass: I seriously thought I redlighted this time. I left when the FIRST yellow came on by accident and I was so embarrased but guess what no red light. With the delay in the throttle it came out perfect I guess. Engine ran stronger this pass too and no spinning to speak of. I did leave at 1500rpm this time too. Oh and I had let about 15psi out of the right rear tire- everything else was the same.
RT: -.478

MPH: 71.998

Excited to make another quick pass I came around at the same time as some fuckin jerk in a new Dodge SXT sedan. The track guy said they were gonna try running two cars at the time and told me to take the right lane (I had been in the left the previous 3 times) well this turned out badly. I spun like I was on ice halfway down the track...
