Dinosaur, 3 of a perfect pair, frame by frame, elephant talk, thela hun gingeet are among the KC tunes he's been playing.....
His new album Side Two came out July 12th....I still have to pick it up.

Last night I was fortunate enough to be able to go see Adrian Belew play at the Neighborhood Theater in Charlotte, NC. It was a very small, intimate venue that seated about 500 people. From what I could tell the place was pretty full.
Mike Gallaher opened the show, and played for about 45 mintues. He's an extremely talented guitar player, and the kept the crowd interested with some original pieces, a cover song or two, and his killer Rodney Dangerfield impressions. The highlight of his set was his cover of Chick Corea's Spain. I found out after his set that he was also the bass player in Adrian's band. Very cool.
Then there was a 15 minute break or so, and Adrian came on and they kicked into "Writing On The Wall," my favorite tune from Side One. I got out of my seat, and ran to the front of the stage, along with a bunch of other people. I was able to secure a nice spot right next to the stage in front of Adrian. The band plowed almost flawlessly through most of the Side One tracks, a couple Crimson songs, and some more stuff from Adrian's solo material that I wasn't familiar with. At the start of "Walk Around The World," Adrian said that sometimes he writes stuff that he as a hard time playing. He messed up once, and then on the the second try he successfully got the guitar loop down and started the song. The crowd was pretty active throughout the whole show, and Adrian did a good job of interacting with everyone. Everybody went nuts during "Big Electric Cat" and the Crimson tunes. The setlist was pretty solid, and they played with a ton of energy from the moment they hit the stage, until the last notes of "Thela Hun Ginjeet." I was hoping for some Side Two material, especially tracks like "Asleep," "Quicksand," and "Sunlight," but we didn't get any last night. Oh well.
I was very impressed with his band as well. At first I was a bit worried if Mike Hodges and Mike Gallaher would be able to handle the Side One material, but they did a good job. The drum work was a bit less crazy than what Danny Carey played on record, but that's understandable. Not many people can play like Danny. Mike Gallaher did a good job on bass, didn't notice any mistakes.
This was probably one of the best sounding shows I've ever been to. The sound was PERFECT. It was at a good volume, I didn't even need to use my earplugs. I could hear every instrument clearly, even though I was located right on the stage. I applaud the sound guy.
There was a guy next to me with a tripod on the stage, and he filmed the whole show. I talked to him a bit after, and he said that he was filming it for Adrian, and he told me that Belew plans to release some live material sometime in the future. That guy was extremely high, so I'm not sure what take of that. He invited me to come with them to Atlanta (next stop on the our)...too bad I have school hehe. I was going to stick around after the show to wait for Adrian to come out, but I had to drive back to Raleigh. Maybe some other time.
All in all it was a very good show, and I'd recommend for anyone reading this to catch Adrian on tour, you won't be disappointed.
