ha! that brings back memories. i had a friend that lived in metcalf that year. he almost started this huge fire outside the dorm the night state beat florida st, messing around lighting up the toilet paper that was all hanging from the trees.
the image i remember from that night is him stomping on a wad of tp in flames that were about knee-high . . . good times.

haha, i was on the 7th floor.
after a while, we never came down...we just stayed in our rooms. until one time the firemen came to each and every room, and kicked us out without letting us put on any clothes (even though they let the girls that were in me and my room mates bed put clothes on) so we ended up outside in the cold in our boxers. ahhh good time. 7/20/2005 12:57:33 PM |

Yeah I remember that... I was the 8th floor RA the year before and still had friends living in the dorm...
Good Friend of mine Victor was on the 2nd floor, he didn't care too much as it was a short walk for him! 7/20/2005 6:27:49 PM |

one of my best friends lived in a 2nd floor suite in the Calf during our freshman year( 98-99.)
I was in Becton - his ass would call me everytime you fuckers set off the fire alarm at 2am, 3am, 4am, and ask if he could come over cuz it was so cold outside.
I think one of his suitemates ended up being a culprit for all that shit. I know the dude set a fire on the 7th (?) floor later in that spring 99 semester and got kicked out.... 7/21/2005 11:28:30 AM |

I remember my first semester at NCSU a firealarm went off the night before classes started at like 3 AM. I was living in UT, Fall 1999. What a way to start off college. 7/22/2005 1:15:32 PM |

that's how you met people. everyone's outside at 2 am, you have to socialize. not fun when you were working on a paper or something though. 7/22/2005 8:22:03 PM |

i remember one night when we had 3 fire alarms in the middle of the night. on the 3rd one, i just went downstairs in my boxers and went back to sleep on the bricks outside until we went back in. 7/22/2005 8:26:32 PM |

I was in suite 403 that year. I heard stories about how the guys on the 12th floor would set the trashcan on fire and set it in the elevator. I remember the multiple fire drills in the middle of the night and one night it was like the third time and we just said the hell with it and didn't even get up. 7/24/2005 1:12:21 AM |

There were some guys on the 8th floor that used to throw stuff out the window at us while we smoked downstairs. One night one of my crazy friends went up there and almost threw a guy out the window of 803B. 7/25/2005 11:14:32 PM |

Lee Dorm had some messed up fire alarms too in 97/98. You would start heading back upstairs after a fire alarm, and it would go off again, so the hords of people just turned around and started to walk back downstairs. Eventually after the third time I think most people didn't move when they told us we could enter for a minute or 2.
There were also a couple power outages over there in Lee, and then there was one time when most of West Campus lost power...even the dining hall. I think they had candlelight dinner night because of it. 7/26/2005 8:15:29 PM |

Metcalf alarms were pretty wacked out in 2000, when I lived there. Not to the tune of 26 or whatever, but we were woken up quite a few times in the middle of the night. 7/27/2005 3:59:28 PM |

^^ I remember that ... and the fatties complained about having to walk back up the stairs so many times. I remember being totally trashed with my friends lying on the grass and laughing at the bitching fatties. We never got back up until we made sure it wasn't going off again. 8/1/2005 10:59:17 AM |

Oh yeah...I was on the eighth floor. Definitely heard my share of complaints.
The only time I really minded all the stairs was move-in/move-out day when, of course, the elevators never functioned (not that they ever really did, mind you).
Nothing like carrying a loft and a futon up eight flights of stairs. 8/1/2005 11:11:44 AM |
