I have a 7.5 Honda four stroke outboard that I can't get to run

plus seem good, fires on starting fluid

I can't get it to keep running, I think the carb needs cleaning but I don't wanna fuck with it

take the carb apart, soak it in varsol or something, scrub it, then put it back together the same way you took it apart. note how the mixture and stuff is adjusted before you take it apart.

how long has it been sitting up and how old is the engine? i'm guessing pretty new since its a four-stroke.

the last one i worked on was a sea-doo that supposedly had been sitting for about a year and wouldn't start, once i got into the carbs, they were full of rust and salt from being turtled in the ocean and never started, it was a mess

it's been sitting up for about 3 years

carb was new then
plugs are new and good

I'm afraid to take that carb apart... I don't get along well with small parts

When I took the carb off my 4 wheeler after 2 years of sitting everything was stuck like a motherfuck.

I'm pretty damn good with carbs, and I have a little bit of outboard experience too.

The Honda 4-stroke outboards have been around more than 20 years; that's all Honda ever built. They never did a 2 stroke outboard. My uncle has two: a 2.5 and a 5.

I presume yours has a remote tank.

^^ small carbs like that are the simplest thing in the world, all you have is a pilot jet, idle jet and main, i'd rebuild one on a bike, outboard, or 4-wheeler anyday over a quadrajet or something like that

yea the small carbs are usually simple as shit, carbs have bubble gum in them basically so rip the fockers apart....

Yeah...My 4 wheeler had to be the simplest thing I've ever seen. The floats were stuck all the way at the bottom and had to be pried upon with thine screwdriver and the jets were clogged like a toilet after things get crazy at El Rodeo.

the only thing that can be aggrevating are the slide type carbs if one of those gets stuck, it can take days of soaking to get them out without damage

i recently rebuilt my first carb evarrr (yesss) for a 4cyl inboard boat motor. the rebuild kit i ordered had all the gaskets, new springs, balls, jets, and floats and was only like $40. it also had a huge exploded diagram so you knew what you were doing.

so my advice is to look for something like that
