Since the other three were all dead, here is the new official thread to monitor what comes through the auctions.

They had 4+ Acura Legends out there the last time I went. I think it is a given that if you drive a Legend, especially with rims, the cops will assume you are a drug dealer.

Also a Suburban on bigass meats (40"+), a Jetta with a bunch of stickers (centerforce, K$N, etc.), and a Vette that looked sweet from 15 feet but had one of the worst paint jobs I've ever seen. Shit looked like Rhino Liner, but it wasn't.

A bunch of the crown vics and a camaro or two at the highway patrol lot on blue ridge are for sale. Most are under $6k, but I'm sure they have high miles.

Looking at the bids that Jetta came in at just under $9k. Might be worth that if the engine is good, but don't think I would trust it otherwise. The 84 Corvette went for $4508.

So I guess all the cars are as-is where-is? I went there a couple of weeks ago and noticed some had condition written on the windshield (like "Must tow, no brakes") but other than that it looked like a crap shoot. I guess they probably don't allow you to sit in the cars, pop the hood, or start them up do they?

i think they'll let you pop the hood and get inside. you may be able to start it, but i know they wont let you drive it.

they will let you pretty much do anything (start it, pop hood, this and that) but you just cant drive it.

maybe you can if one of the workers are with you i dont know

Nah, they won't let you drive it, but they drive them from behind the building to that front lot and sometimes the person that drove it will be around if you just ask who moved the car there.

I'm sure HP cars are driven hard, but would you expect it to be any worse than other Camaro owners? They are under public scrutiny, so they can't just powerslide every turn, dump it into (D) and launch, or pull other shenanigans very often. They are very well maintained too from what I've heard, but maybe someone else can fill us in on their maintenance routine.

One of my friends who is a cop bought a Georgia patrol lieutenants B4C Camaro. He was leery about the average HP car that was ridden hard, but the lieutenants ride was hardly ever pushed hard.

That said, I have heard the LT1 & LS1's often run stronger at higher miles if they have been worked good than if they have been babied.

might just be some stupid urban legend I've heard, but isn't it a bad idea to buy a drug dealer's ex-ride?

Check out that bling. Would go nice with that Caddy you posted in the original post.

Somebody got a good deal on a Camry last week, assuming it wasn't wrecked:
1995 Toyota Camry 4T1GK12E2SU857791 32974 (552706) $1,813.12

BTW, that yellow motorcycle has been at that surplus since last feb. I think it has been listed twice that I know of. So i'm guessing no one wants it. And thats an ugly ass fart can on it anyways.

That primered racing stripes suites that car. haha

number 2 on the "instruction to bidders", it says "vehicles may not pass State inspection in all counties in NC". Does that mean that you can't register the car here?

it means they may or may not pass emissions testing or any of the other usual inspection tests (lights, brakes, signal, etc).. so you might have to fix some problems before getting it on the road
