thanks for the heads-up on them.

i think your accessment of them sounds accurate.

to me, their mellow sound is definitely listenable, but instantly compelling.

HEY OSKAR
PERHAPS THIS CAN BE THAT THREAD

HERE IN ENTERTAINMENT, WE DON'T NEED ALL THAT "**OFFICIAL**" BS

thats why the willy wonka thread is the same one we used to disucss the initial shots of johnny depp

and

the star wars thread is the one we used since the trailer came out
(same thing goes for the fantastic 4 thread i think)
and the batman begins one has been around since they were shooting the movie

plus, we've already got an x-men-3 thread
and i think we have one for the superman

ps
my band to watch is http://www.circasurvive.com
they've only existed like 7 months, and they're already playing the big tours and doing some really big shows
THEY'RE GOING FAR

one would think it was your boyfriends band or something woodfoot.

or you're getting paid to promote them.

hahahah

i have like a man crush on anthony green
no lie

when i met him last month, i was like a little girl
he was standing on the other side of a big window wall, and i was trying to get the girl i was with to go out and ask if he was him

she kinda looked at me funny

oh, and if this is going to be official, i think we need some basic requirements:

1. brief description of band's sound. that way, if the band is heavily influenced by metallica, i know not to bother listening to them

2. link to mp3, or embedded track (no auto starts!). i can't like them if i can't listen to them.

thank you.

Lovedrug

http://www.purevolume.com/lovedrug
http://www.lovedrugmusic.com

sorta muse-ish, sorta coldplay-ish, sorta old radiohead-ish, just really fucking good. the more i listen to the cd the more i keep wanting to hear it more.

their live show is very good too. if you can see them headline somewhere, do it.

they headlined the brewery a few months ago to a pretty empty house, but still put on a very good show.

oblivious action figures

hard to describe, kind of tongue in cheek rock, some occassional groove with a hard edge. they were at the pour house about a month ago. they're kind of silly, but surprisingly good.

the cloud room
http://www.thecloudroom.com

Quote :
"Lead singer J. of the Cloud Room sounds like a happier Paul Banks of Interpol fame. The comparisons to '80's British post-punkers like Joy Division and New Order are easy to make, but the Cloud Room is also clearly influenced by the dance-rock NYC scene in which they flourished."

Wolf Parade:
"Found" by Isaac guy of Modest Mouse, and they kinda remind me of The Arcade Fire.

I'm totally diggin em.

Wolf Parade debut album is pretty awesome. It doesnt come out until October I think but its been online for a while now. I actually prefer their live versions of songs (especially This Heart's On Fire.)

I'm gonna plug my friends' band here

Stay Tuned
http://www.staytunedtheband.com

Based in Seattle, the trio performs tributes to TV theme songs. Every song is recomposed by the group, performed with drums, bass, and keyboard/organ. They just released a CD recently that is getting good local reviews in Seattle.

As for sound, they mix rock, reggae, punk, jazz, funk, rockabilly, and a number of other sounds, depending on the song. A lot of people here are probably too young to appreciate some of the tunes though..

- Charles In Charge (awesome "guitar" solo performed with a keyboard)
