To read the kinds of brutal tests the upcoming Audi SUV is going through, go to http://www.germancarfans.com/news.cfm/newsid/2050802.001

Here is a sample:

Quote :
"Checks are being carried out on a vast array of test beds, on Volkswagen Group proving grounds, at minus 35 degrees Celsius inside the Polar Circle, in the scorching desert heat of Southern Africa, on the highways of Florida, on dust, grit and gravel in Europe, Asia, Brazil and Central America, through to the gruelling Nordschleife of Germany’s Nürburgring. But this is not all. The Q7 is also being put through its paces on lonely, winding country roads, on autobahns and in the midst of heavy city traffic in congested urban areas. For over two years now, disguised Q7s have been out and about on public roads, as well as in the most remote corners of the earth, under extreme dynamic, climatic and topographic conditions."

Quote :
"Before the first series production models are delivered to customers this coming spring, Q7 prototypes and pre-production vehicles will have been put through millions of test kilometres."

Quote :
"One comparative figure supports the severity of these tests – 8,000 kilometres run on this test cycle is equivalent to 300,000 kilometres of normal everyday use."

So the test vehicles would have been put through around up to 100 million kilometers or more extrapolated normal everyday use!

Now, some pics:

Ugh, I'm getting sick of these Quasi- SUVs. And I love Audis, so it's sad

I doubt it'll be a better performer than the Porsche.

^^people race tractors, but you still sound like an idiot if you say "I doubt it'll outperform a Deere".

I'm pretty sure tractor race drivers compare tractors to one another.

hmm I think the porsche and audi and vw comments above are bait to get someone to argue.... but I'll bit because I'm a lemming. porsche is independent, Audi is majority owned by VW. Audi owns Lambo. The Porsche family has family ties to VW not by bureaucracy but by actual family members and history. Today the companies are unrelated. The touareg and cayenne use similar chassis, but suspension, drivetrain, body, 4wd system are unrelated, if similar. Its a similar but looser cooperation to DS eagles/mitsubishis from back in the day. satisfied, baiters?

friend of mine has a cayenne turbo and holyyyyyy shit talk about luxury meeting speed

he can easily do 140 in it with out strain. Its got suede on the roof, ostrich seats. Its crazy to ride in because u are so far up. I have rode in many many fast cars but going 100+ in a SUV like that is a totally different and almost scary feeling especially going around turns. but i doubt this or anything new can hang with the cayenne turbo

i just don't get this high performance luxury SUV thing. if you wanna go fast, get a car. if you want to go off-road, don't spend $90k.

Even that standard Audi grill does not make that thing look Audi enough for me.

the structure doesn't really matter i just figured since ferdianad porsche started it all he'd make his name sake company the top of the tree even though i'm sure vw is the top seller.

ohh and JT3bucky.. has your friend ever thrown it through a turn
i rode with an architect who knows how to drive (porsche fanatic) and he drove me around that thing fucking corners like a champ for any car let alone an suv.

Official pics out!

I like it, but I think it looks too feminine and sexy. Doesn't look aggressive enough. Especially when compared with Cayenne and FX45, and even the new ML by MB. V8 (350 hp) and V6, no V12 or turbo V8 yet. This will have seven seating, so it doesn't compete with X5, but with the upcoming X7. New smaller Q5 to come out to compete with X5.

Check out new A6 Allroad:
