i'm working on a website that is going to require a database and i need some ideas for a (free) solution to store and search entries. it needs to be fairly easy to set up and use, as i don't have time to get really fancy with it. i'd attempt to create it myself, but i'm on a time frame and need a quick and easy solution. ideas? 8/7/2005 3:20:45 PM |

Well, you could use Perl, but if you want something quick and easy to setup, code, and use, then you're probably going to want to do it in PHP.8/7/2005 4:16:02 PM |

yeah, that's great for admining mysql, the question now is the programming/script side aspects of accessing that database
what are you coding in if you don't like php. and don't say HTML, because that's not a programming language anyway and you can't access any database with just HTML. 8/7/2005 5:52:21 PM |

not meant to hurt anyone's intellegence, but you'd be surprised when some people talk about "programming" a webpage and wanting to add a database to it and wanting to do it with HTML because that is what they are "programming" with.8/7/2005 7:10:49 PM |

haha... kind of like when people refer to themselves as "technicians" because they read somewhere how to run a defrag and install a CD drive. 8/8/2005 9:56:36 PM |

Did you just refer to MS Access in the context of a usable database?
I second LAMP but in your case you could go WAMP. 8/8/2005 9:59:23 PM |
