look where the hoses go from the radiator to the motor and its probably on that side of the motor. 8/10/2005 2:14:19 PM |

Why the hell do you care about a drain plug on the engine? If you drain the radiator, that's enough to remove and replace it.
It seems to me that some of them didn't even have a draincock, but if it does, it may well be of the plastic variety and be on the underside of the radiator.
If you don't find it, you may just have to yank the bottom hose and catch what you can...hose down the rest of it. 8/10/2005 2:57:44 PM |

I'm just going by what my Jeep manual says. It told me to drain the coolant from the engine also, but it may not have one. Also i didnt see a drain cock at all on my old radiator and it is a stock one from 1987. The new radiator does have one on it. I thinking about just going ahead and taking it out and catching everything. I'm just trying to make sure that it doesnt hurt anything. 8/10/2005 3:19:50 PM |

just pull the lower radiator hose off 8/10/2005 3:24:13 PM |

You're not going to hurt anything by pulling the lower hose off. I've had to do it several times.
New ones often have stuff the old ones don't.
That radiator is kind of funky...really wide but not that tall. 8/10/2005 3:25:42 PM |

Yea, it's not very tall at all. It kinda surprised me at first. But i guess i'll give this a try tonight or tomorrow. 8/10/2005 3:30:13 PM |

You've already got the radiator, right?
I'm looking to pick up some extra work...if you need it done, and don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, I can do it either Friday evening or Saturday morning. 8/10/2005 4:50:49 PM |

if its like my 89, it's on the passengers side near the bottom. You have to remove the grill to get to it, and then have to stick a screwdriver through the grill opening to turn it. 8/10/2005 5:29:09 PM |

Also that clicking noise only happens when i'm in a drive gear, when i put it in reverse, it doesnt do it. It's a manual by the way 8/11/2005 7:22:30 PM |

probably your engine fan hitting the radiator shroud then, put your fingers between the fan and shroud and rotate it all the way around, if you feel a tight spot, loosen the shroud and readjust it until it is all even. the reason it only does it in gear or when you turn the steering wheel is because you put a strain on the engine and the torque cuases it to twist in its mounts. the fan moves closer to the shroud and hits where you have it too close. 8/11/2005 11:07:12 PM |
