there is this black plastic vacuum pot that has one vac line going to it
i desperately need to know what this is called
and no, its not a NGR valve.
it appears to possibly control a flap in the inlet to the SC downstream of the MAF 8/13/2005 2:41:49 PM |

is it the pressure switch similar to a wastegate on a turbo setup? (guess) 8/13/2005 3:15:55 PM |

OK! its the "boost bypass valve"
now if i plug the vac line to eliminate any leak will my car be driveable? this would only be temporary untill monday when i can hopefully get a new one.
i broke off the connection for the vac line

should be ok to drive easily. it's just a valve to bleed off excessive boost when you're on it and to relieve pressure when you lift the throttle quickly. very similar to a bov/bpv on a turbo car. 8/13/2005 4:21:01 PM |

the $35 valve was actually the solenoid, the actuator itself is $192 god damn dollars
thats half the price of a rebuilt SC !
