My processor runs very hot, usually around 125 degrees. I never have any problems with my computer, but I'm worried about it getting too hot. I have been turning my computer off at night, but I would like to leave it running. Is this safe?

my powerbook usually runs at about 140-150 deg F (according to a temperature program I have), usually too hot to actually sit on my lap

apple said its okay, so im guessing yours would be OK also

lol truly. you should be okay at 125 F, just check and see if you have any processes that are using the cpu...kill them. you should have no problem leaving it running then.

125F is fine, you dont need to worry about it.

And measure it in C.

If it ever gets over 60-65C you have reason to start worrying.

125 is nothing, when i first built my PC i had my heatsink off center from the processor. For like 2 weeks my computer was really unstable, running at like 160 degrees until i fixed. i'm just luck/glad the processor didn't burn out at that temperature

200F won't boil water...much less melt plastic or metal. some cards are designed to run under these tolerances...especially today's line.

and 125F = just under 52C. @60C you start to watch it closely, at 65C you start replacing/adding cooling. you're fine until then.

uh... tollerances on military grade parts are 125c... commercial temp parts are 65c... industrial are 85c... if the memory around the hottest part is over 85c then you might have errors...

Its measuring the Die temp which will be a little bit hotter (~10c) than the board... but it will heat up the ground plane around it... which will heat up the memory... which leads to problem... parts won't desolder themselves until it reaches >150c
