no need for anything heated.
fact: a number of 7k+ lb. diesel trucks run 1/4 mile times in the 11sec. range or quicker, and are daily street driven. 13sec. times are attainable with fairly minimal mods/investment. 8/26/2005 11:38:28 PM |

BigBlueRam All American 16852 Posts user info edit post |
it's been discussed here a few times before. the only argument that ever arises is cummins vs. powerstroke vs. duramax. no one denies that diesels don't have serious acceleration potential. that said, cummins>powerstroke>duramax. maybe that'll kick off the heated argument you're looking for. 8/26/2005 11:43:37 PM |

cool. I'm up on diesel technology and performance.... and as well am a lover of any highly tuned diesel engine. you know of any around school? there are a bunch of guys (and a few dealers) back home that are into it big 8/26/2005 11:46:52 PM |

nah, no one around ncsu that i know of. at least not anything serious. my dad's got a pretty well built f350 crew cab dually. probably mid-high 14 sec. truck. it likely tips the scales at nearly 9-10k lbs. or more though with the bed full of tools, etc. 8/26/2005 11:59:17 PM |

here's what is around home: 01 F350 crew cab dually/100hp ATS chip, edge EZ box, ATS 4" exhaust, ATS built tranny, AFE stge. 2 intake.... nothing special.... various others with similar mods. there are a few guys in Yadkin county with bulit dodges... twin turbo built with claimed 1000 wheel hp; I was told it could do a rolling burnout at 45mph (dually too)..... have you checked out this issue of Hot Rod magazine? they have a cool article about diesel performance - I am itching for one of my friends to go with a built motor/high psi/propane/nitrous setup on a dodge or stroke...... 8/27/2005 12:13:34 AM |

I love the fact that it gets better gas usage numbers than cars, when you consider gallons/hp over 1 hour. 8/28/2005 5:10:54 AM |

Anyone watched the Hummer build on Xtreme 4x4 on Spike Tv. They are building an H1 with a Duramax. Gale Banks is putting a twin turbo setup on it. 1100+ Hp and some ridiculous torque #'s. 8/30/2005 10:20:26 PM |

It was an older military hummer. Found a cool link. They now have kits to produce your own biodiesel for around $ .70 a gallon. http://www.freedomfuelamerica.com/ 8/30/2005 10:53:11 PM |
