Any suggestions for a good daily? I do not want a Honda civic/accord, Toyota carolla/camry, or other economy car. Whatever I buy I want to leave it completely stock. Looking for a 5 speed preferably. Price range is 10-15, but I would like to spend between 5-10 if I can find a nice car, since I am going to pay cash.
I've been looking at A4 1.8t Quattros. I was told the 99 and up was the way to go. This is about what I am looking for. I can get a nice m3/4 for similar price, but they are autos, and I don’t want to be the laughing stock of the bmw community.

I know of that and would like it. But the last thing I need is another E36 coupe. I would settle for a E36 sedan though. I want something that wouldn't tempt me to mod it but be nice at the same time. 8/29/2005 11:49:09 AM |

i thoroughly enjoyed the infiniti q45 i had as a DD for a few months. they're all auto, but who cares in a large v8 performance/luxery sedan. whatever you buy, just get something that doesn't have much if any of an aftermarket following. then you can't modify it but so much without alot of work and money. what about an I6 5 series? or even a 540 sport (6 speed) can be had for sub 15k.

Don't want a V8 or big car as I need decent mileage. I wouldnt mind a 528i, but their autos sucks, and it is hard to find a 5 speed 528. 8/29/2005 12:23:35 PM |

You can have my '87 Integra for 700 bucks. It runs well (valve guides are pulling oil though), gets at least 30MPG, but is a total hunk of shit. I've been too cheap and lazy to fix the AC and the clattering CV shaft.
You know how it goes...plenty of time to fuck with other folks' shit, but no time to fuck with your own. 8/29/2005 1:48:37 PM |

the A4 1.8t quattro manual is a fun car - and you shouldn't have any problem finding one in the 10-15 range with decent miles. Make sure they've had the timing belt changed recently - they seem to have a 60k mile lifespan before snapping and killing valves.
Also, it's on the high end of your price range, but I'm selling my '98 540i 6speed - pm if interested. It's quite a lot of fun, but the gas milage isn't great. 8/29/2005 1:57:32 PM |

yeah.. definitely change the timing belt at 60k. if it hasnt been done yet, dont worry. its not that hard of a job, but it will take a good day's worth of work, at least 8/29/2005 2:53:46 PM |
