I'm still running G4. Can't wait to upgrade to a G5 iMac. I just wish I could afford the PowerMac. I don't really need all that power though. 9/11/2005 8:48:04 PM |

PowerMacs usually come at twice the price with twice the clockspeed and dual processors, which is more than what I need.
Thnx for continuing to talk about things you don't know about. 9/11/2005 9:05:01 PM |

Compared to iMacs, which top out at 2GHz and only have single processors.
I'm not going into the Mac vs Intel clockspeed argument. 9/11/2005 9:14:31 PM |

Ex comp sci works for me.
I'll be honest and say that I find Macs to be overpriced, and the only reason I don't just build myself a computer is because I want to run OSX instead of XP. 9/11/2005 9:20:19 PM |

I agree OS X is definitely better than XP. Although the dearth of applications for OS X platform is a concern. 9/11/2005 9:23:02 PM |
tartsquid All American 16389 Posts user info edit post |
I haven't had any problems finding the applications that I need. And personally I like the OSX versions of Photoshop and Office better than the Windows ones. 9/11/2005 9:24:10 PM |

MS Office for OSX DOES have more features than its Windows counterpart...but not for long.
And a Mac on the PowerPC platform sucks at numerical computation. 9/11/2005 9:25:38 PM |

Just because you get all the applications you need does not mean that its a problem. They create products for home usage, but if you try to find industrial applications for the Apple platform there arent many. Apple was and is good for home computing no doubt about it, but open source applications for the intel x86 platform definitely beats the shit out of apple as far as applications are concerned. 9/11/2005 9:28:03 PM |

Haahahahahahaha, thats funny tho. It's the reason cause everybody in music production, video editing, graphic design, etc ...use Apple.....yeah....because is for home usage .... come on ... Apple rules the creative environment! I dont give a shit about AutoCAD,etc....my interest is music, and in music ... Apple ROCKS. (Plus my sequencer is only available for mac ... Logic Pro 7)
I DO HOWEVER AGREE THAT THEY ARE OVERPRICED .... but its price you ahve to pay for having that in your hands...

I love Apple and wish I had a G5 (17" Powerbook for me), but the only reason Logic is only for Mac is because Apple bought it out and made it Mac only.9/11/2005 10:13:41 PM |
