My Polaris does fine in deep water. I've done plenty of stream crossings that submerged it over the seat and it pulled right through with no problems.

I'm still a Honda guy though.

I hear most of the new ones aren't bad about getting the transmissions upset by water, but the ones I used to ride (late 90's models) were horrible for slipping even after hitting puddles

I'd prefer a Honda, but I got my Polaris cheap and I plan to make a good profit whenever I sell it...Probably after one more trip to West VA. The 400cc 2-Stroke makes pretty good power too, but the auto tranny takes a lot of the fun out of it.

would your 400 CC 2 stroke be faster than my 400 CC four stroke? common sense says yes, but i've never heard of a polaris being particularly fast

the motor should make more power but i have no idea how well the auto tranny can put it to the ground

the 400CC has slightly less HP that the 500 HO 4 stroke polaris offers, but can be modded to make 75-90 HP fairly easy.

The 500 HO scramblers would run about 68mph factory... good stuff. I had an old 400ex (pictured above) that would get close to 80.......

our polaris will only hit about 57mph on flat ground.(425 magnum) im scared to take it up that high though now. ive wrecked it once and put pieces of my leg on the handlebars(21 stitches)

the magnum is a heavy atv though

I've never run a 400ex, but I've driven a few. From what I've read, a Scrambler 400 will take it off the line, but the 400ex will catch it past ~25MPH. That seems about right from my experiences driving them both.

The Scrambler is pretty heavy and it handles like it. You can't throw it around like a 400ex. They are legal in the "utility" class for racing purposes and I think they are pretty popular there. It's definately a lot quicker and better handling than most other Utes out there.

YES for the griz 660... but I think the ex would get the holeshot, assuming both vehicles in factory tune... probably regardless of scrambler in all wheel dig
