Finally some officials are starting to acknowledge the GIANT FUCKING ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

Quote :
"Nagin blamed the outbreak of crime and violence on drug addicts who are cut off from their drug supplies and wandering the city "looking to take the edge off their jones.""

http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/09/02/katrina.nagin/

Of course, its taken 5 days to address this problem....

as many ghetto ass inner-city motherfuckers are being rescued and housed and NO-BO-DY has mentioned drugs until now

fuck fuck fuck what the FUCK is wrong with people - even the pundits haven't mentioned drug addicts

well its just frustrating when the officials talk about how careful they are being to make sure weapons aren't brought into the stadiums etc. etc. etc. and NOT ONE PEEP about drugs

So, what this means, is that if you are a drug dealer, you best make your way to the big easy.

Okay wow, so the hindsight police have finally gotten their boy Bush off the hook (Goal #1 here as always).

Now, how about the "swift response". Currently entertaining your acrobatics over this one.

I don't think anyone is saying that the federal government is without some blame here. That being said, disaster response and aid should begin at the local level, then the state level and finally the federal level. It's obvious that neither the N' Orleans government nor Louisiana government was prepared in any way. Look at the school busses above, the complete lack of food and water in local shelters, and a complete lack of any sort of response over the past several days. From what I've seen on TV, emergency response in Louisiana means get on TV and bitch, bitch, bitch about how no one has cleaned up the mess yet. Shit, the mayor can't control his own police force. Is that Bush's fault, too?

Hindsight? WTF are you talking about? The fact that this very thing could happen has been known at least since the 60's.

ALL levels of government are responsible here; not just the feds, like you seem to be implying.

Yea, I don't think the feds have ever reacted to an event like this any quicker. You have to be prepared to last at least a few days until help arrives.

"A number of our readers have been highly critical of state and local authorities in Louisiana. However, it must be acknowledged that they did one important thing that saved countless lives: they ordered the mandatory evacuation on Sunday that caused most people to leave the city. This mandatory evacuation order was a departure from past practice, when evacuations in the face of approaching hurricanes have always been voluntary.

So what prompted the order that prevented Hurricane Katrina from being a natural disaster of unprecedented magnitude?

The mayor called the order unprecedented and said anyone who could leave the city should.

Gov. Kathleen Blanco, standing beside the mayor at a news conference, said President Bush called and personally appealed for a mandatory evacuation for the low-lying city, which is prone to flooding."

My biggest beef is how they handled the people shuffled to the Superdome. They got kinda screwed over.

The people stuck on their houses, while I feel bad for them, are kinda their by their own choice.

you could fucking count on your hand the number of people who would have gotten onto one of those fucking busses before it hit.

I always have to feel bad for you anti-Bushies, even with human suffering of this magnitude you just can't function without your own little insular world of political make-believe...

"mandatory evacuation"

(If Israel can do it in under a week, New Orleans could have done the same. Especially when local and state government is run floor-to-ceiling by "compassionate" Democrats...)

Did the city of NO ever have a hurricane evacuation plan that they at least looked at from time to time?

They didn't have any contingency plans. Neither did the state government. Louisiana is the most corrupt, backwards state in the country....has been for a long time.

This couldn't have happened to a worse place. NO has the most weirdos, slums, druggies, witches, and all other sorts of American-rejects than probably any other city in America. It's a shame because trying to help these people is next to impossible.

Seriously, NO houses a shitton of weird freaks and poor druggies.

There was plenty of LA Nat'l Guard to do the job, and plenty more in neighboring states if it was needed. Next.

True, but they are complaining that most of their equipment is in Iraq.

But I don't blame the feds. This is NO and LA's fault.

What equipment did the Israelis use to dismantle the settlements beyond soldiers and vehicles?

And at least N.O. citizens would should have been cooperating
