I don't think it will hurt the efforts to raise money, however I do think it may hurt Kanye's career outside of MTV and BET. He was emotional but to say something like that was completely stupid, all levels of government are to blame, the mayor for not calling a mandatory evacuation soon enough, the governor for not having a worst case scenario plan that would work, congress and the president for not getting the national guard mobilized quick enough.

This is not about racism this is about economic class, its just so happens that New Orleans is 68% black and 36% of the city live below the poverty line. And Kanye's reference to black people looting white people finding food is racial bias in the media and he needs to lash out at the press not the president. The President doesn't write picture captions.

If you want to pin the blame on government for the weak levees, then you should go back through the 60s, 70s, and 80s and blame every single President for not putting in the capital to build them up. I think he was right for the most part. President bush might care about black people, but certainly not as much as he cares about shooting people in iraq, for whatever purpose that is serving (which I still don't know).

Okay, I am on your side 98% of the time, so please don't try and blast me away for this. What I am angry about is the condeming of the relief effort from the platform of "because we're black no one cares". Let's be honest, who should have allocated the funding for proper protection first? The city of New Orleans? Louisiana? The government? The collective mentality of this community has been to sponge off of the government. If they didn't get off of their asses and help themselves before, what makes you think they will do so during a disaster situation?

This isn't like the tsunami where there was little time to prepare. They have the Weather Channel just like we do and saw a Category 5 hurricane coming their way. Help the people, yes, but don't buy into this "they hate black people" shit. They only make themselves look stupid.
