Not enough ahead of time to remove the danger, but enough time was given to alleviate it. That hasn't been done. Actually, this country has proven to be fairly well prepared for a major disaster. However, New Orleans and more generaly the state of Louisiana has proven to be largely unprepared. Natural disasters occur all the time, all over the country, and no where else in the entire country have things ever been this bad. The reason is simply that every other state in the union seems to at least have a competent enough government to prepare for and allieviate the effects of a disaster. Louisiana on the other hand, appears to have thought the feds would do all of their work.

He may be have been considering the actual weight of the food to be delivered, including packaging used to protect it during shipment.

Also, millions of tons of food isn't a lot when you are talking about millions of people that need food. Some of these people will need to be fed for months or even years, so I wouldn't put it past that much food being delivered. Plus some of these people...have you seen them? I would say some of them can eat a lot of food...


Even if they don't eat that much food...who cares? As long as they are getting enough food, who cares if it is millions of tons or pounds or grams or ounces?
