Are you on a one or two year contract? I know they'll do an "early upgrade" if you're more than 1 year in, but less than 2. You just have to sign a new 2 year contract, and you'll only have to pay the "2 year contract" price for the phone.
Cell phone prices are a ripoff anyways. They're horribly overinflated to force you into signing a contract. My phone died about 3 months ago and I nearly needed the thumbprint of God himself to get it replaced for less than $200.

just CALL customer support and tell them you want to cancel your service and when they ask why tell them because your phone sucks ass and if you sign up with a new provider you can get a free phone. i guarantee they will offer you a new phone to not cancel 9/10/2005 11:39:54 PM |

yeah i'm on a 2 year contract but no way in hell am i extending that shit

If you have problems with someone in customer service, talk to the supervisor... they'll make it right. Verizon's very big on customer service.
Every time I've ever contacted them, even with the smallest problem, they've been totally helpful. Now, on the sales end of things, the saleswoman that I talked to at one store about getting my dying phone replaced was totally rude and pushy to the point that we just walked out on her mid-sentence. Then we called customer service about this woman, and they were appalled, wrote up a complaint, and told us which store to go to and they would make everything right. Voila! New phone at the 2-year contract price.
Thing about it is that we had to sign a new 2 year contract, but it's cool because my whole family is on the same plan, and we're not going anywhere anytime soon.9/11/2005 10:07:52 PM |

yeah that's my experience. we've had problems with just about everyone in the store that is near my home. they've been rude, disrespectful, and have ignored us for no reason before. recently i went in there to buy $350 worth of equipment and was treated awfully. now i only go the one near work where they are much better.
i did send in a complaint this weekend and got a reply from someone in the customer service chain saying they will make things right and that the manager at that store will contact me.
