I use Spybot and Adaware for my comp, but I was asked about some good spyware programs for a mac and I drew a blank...netiher of these programs work on a mac.

What are the decent ad removal programs for a mac? Thanks.

I have never installed a piece of anti-spyware/adware/virus software on my Mac, and I've never experienced a single bug.

When we say things like "spyware and viruses don't exist on the Mac," we actually mean it.

Bug related to some sort of malware, I should have stated.

App crashes come as par for the course, but they're not attributable to outside malware.

yes, this is true.

I agree with that then. the lack of spyware, malware, and in general, viruses is a huge advantage of OSX.

well ok, if that's not the problem, then let me say what is the problem on the mac, I thought it was some type of spyware

She's been using her computer for about 2 months with no problems what so ever, and now starting yesterday, when she boots the computer up it just loads the applications at the bottom, and then continues to load something in the background that causes the internet to not work, and nothing on her desktop will load. I told her to try unplugging the internet and restarting the comp, and then it worked fine, but once she plugs the internet back in, it just goes into a constant loading stage and she can't do anything.

What could that be?

Disconnect from the internet and start up the computer.

Go to Applications->Utilities->Terminal

type "top"

it's basically a task manager (without the management)

reconnect to the internet and see what utility skyrockets.




Also check out Applications->Utilities->Activity Monitor
and see what happens when you reconnect to the web.
