I had previously ran a power cord from the top of my dash to the cigarette lighter in my car for a radar detector. I just got a XM radio unit that runs off of power form the cigarette lighter as well. My question is, will i be able to use the same cord as i did for the radar detector for the XM radio unit? Is it the same voltage and all? 6V? Thanks. 9/13/2005 10:42:27 AM |

you would have to look up and compare the specs of each device. may have different amp/fuse requirements. 9/13/2005 10:49:12 AM |

Most cigarette lighter receptacles will support between 8 and 10 amps of current draw. My guess is that a radar detector AND an XM radio unit won't draw nearly that much, but you'd better check all specs to be sure. 9/13/2005 11:18:20 AM |

hahahaha, i dont think a car with a 6v battery needs to have a radar detector, it would probably need an orange traingle on the back 9/14/2005 7:13:07 PM |

i read what he was asking is if he can use the cord that physically plugged into his radar detector to plug into his xm radio i figured thats where the 6v came from 9/14/2005 7:48:44 PM |
