can't wait til 1st friday and i missed this past one...what art studios have good shows going on right now? not really into photography all THAT much but i can appreciate...i like more modern and abstract work...scupltures, paintings, mixed media, black and white=good

I used to check out that house behind IHOP on Hillsborough whatever night they had it open. Haven't been in over a year so I couldn't tell you if they've had anything worth checking out recently.

there was this art thing (gallery crawl maybe?) downtown a few years ago where someone was doing an art project with agar and hairs. while people were looking at other people's stuff, the "project" requested that people trim some hairs off their bodies and put it in the agar. naturally, most people did hair off their heads, but some did other places, including pubes.

i never found out the results of this process and i think it was a trick to get hair samples for databases

the hair thing reminds me of this show i went to once where there was this HUGE piece of "things in jars"
dead bugs...syringes...skin...condoms...honeycombs...paperclips...urine
VERY interesting...i think i was the only one to like it...but then again i like art that shocks and amazes

yeah i know about fish market...the director of it this year is a friend of mine
im lookin forward to this upcoming one...i'm sure they'll have something real good up with it being the anniversary

but, i was looking more for specific shows right now that may be worth checking out b4 this next FF...i'm taking someone to it for the first time so i'm gonna hit up most of the galleries then, but if there was something worth checking out that's up now i was gonna go ahead and take him to see that
