Up until a few days ago, downloads seemed to be going fine until they suddenly just dropped in speed. I am using roadrunner, and usually I download at like 50-100 kb/s. Now all of my downloads are down to 5-10 kb/s. I have no idea what is causing this as I am not doing anything differently now then I have in the past. It's ridiculous, I have been downloading a video file for the past 2 hrs and it usually would take a couple of minutes. Any ideas?

btw I forgot to add that web pages and images and things like that seem to be loading at regular speed.

I am on a wireless network here at home, my dad's computer, step-mum's laptop, and my sister's laptop are hooked up. They rarely use the internet and most of the time their computers are turned off. Maybe someone is stealing it but I doubt it since most of the people in the neighborhood are old folks that don't know much about computers. I haven't noticed any suspicious vans in the neighborhood. Would it help if I tried hard wiring to the internet?

I don't know if it would have an affect, but while gaming, my ping is usually pretty good.

unless there's frequency interference/overlap, a wireless connection would be as fast as a wired connection on RR.

did you seriously look for unmarked vans, or was that a typo.

I didn't look for any, but I haven't seen any while walking the dog around the neighborhood.

Did you install anything new like a new cordless phone or something? 2.4ghz phones are cheaply made and sometimes bleed over freqencies.

You could be haing interference issues... or maybe your dad discovered torrents for porn!

^^Ha no I download all of my porn through direct download. I tried hard wiring and that helped my direct downloads a lot (I got 10x the download speed I was getting) but for some reason, the torrents I was downloading were just as bad. Oh well, at least the direct downloads worked better. Thanks guys.

Torrents will suck because you're behind a misconfigured router, probably.

You need to open a port and forward it to your computer, then specify that port in BitTorrent as your incoming connection port, then maybe you will get decent BitTorrent speeds... maybe.

Yeah I have tried that many times. I have tried about five different step by step walkthroughs and stuff and I always just get an NAT error. I don't think it is that though cause I usually had pretty decent download speeds with torrents up until whatever now.
