i got my axle swap started everything came apart more or less easy now i'm trying to figure out where to mount the shackel. the only thing i've herd is that a shackel forward design gives you less frontend dive when breaking and is better on road but all the sas'd trucks i've seen have had the shackel in the back. i was gonna go with the shackel forward design, but now i'm not sure are there any advantages to a rear mounted shakel? 9/16/2005 10:47:48 PM |

it's a 91 bronco i think i have a pic or 2 in my photo gallery would say it's about 50/50 it's not my daily driver anymore but it still sees a decent amount of time on the pavement. the real reason for the swap is the 39.5" iroks where killing the ttb on the trail every time i got back on the road the alignment was really screwed up. that ttb design really shouldn't have over 36's on it. 9/16/2005 11:37:41 PM |

sounds like you had some amount of control over this situation
put the shackle on the front though

I'd put it in the back, just cause I'm a toyota kinda guy (rides nicer than a front shackle, like a cj-yj) rear shackles make your front driveshaft extend under droop, so your slip range may be your deciding factor 9/18/2005 1:01:45 PM |

i started mounting everything few days ago just i'm putting the shackels in the back cuz my approch angle would suck with the shackels up front. 9/27/2005 8:52:13 PM |

put it in the rear. both have their advantages, but the rear has more. i've got some pics of an f150 i sas'd if you're interested in design ideas (same frame just longer). 9/27/2005 9:30:32 PM |
