I don't know why you'd say it wouldn't be widely publicized
http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&q=ozone+layer&btnG=Search+News
However, I don't see how this does anything less than prove that oru reduction of CFCs and other greenhouse gases has started to have a positive effect, and we should keep on reducing them. 9/26/2005 1:17:18 PM |

Actually that has been on the mainstream news the past several weeks on NPR, MSNBC etc.
The consensus was that while the Ozone layer was slightly smaller this year then previous measured times, it would take a long time for it to completely heal. 9/26/2005 1:18:29 PM |

well i just figured anything regarding a positive improvement in the environment while bush is in office would get shot down
and yah i think its good and we should continue the current CFC policies...and eventually, if the "hole" continues to "get smaller" it should hopefully cool down the planet a bit 9/26/2005 1:27:16 PM |

Just to clarify:
ozone = nearly colorless (but faintly blue) gaseous form of oxygen, with a characteristic odor like chlorine. Its formula is O3; its molecular weight is 48. Ozone is found in trace quantities in the Earth's atmosphere at all times, primarily in the stratosphere between heights of about 10 and 50 km (the ozonosphere or ozone shield) where its production results from photochemical processes involving ultraviolet radiation. Its maximum concentration occurs between 20 and 25 km. In the lower atmosphere, ozone is commonly formed as a product of electrical discharges through the air.

that's ridiculous. who the hell blames bush for global warming? we've been causing global warming since the 1800s
bush's cronies are certainly making global warming worse, but it's not like anyone says it's his fault. I think you're taking this and stretching it every way you can think of, and it's making you look ridiculous 9/26/2005 2:13:22 PM |

cant remember a time when bush has supported any reductions of emissions, so i dont think its his fault.
maybe its the trend towards worldwide reductions we've seen since the late 80's? I mean, we are but one country (with a shitton of cars, but i digress). 9/26/2005 5:03:50 PM |

^i think that cars are a relatively minor player, these days. car emissions are pretty damned clean.

well, if a liberal source makes a conservative claim, that makes it as or more credible than the same claim coming from a conservative source.9/26/2005 5:07:07 PM |

^yeah, thats sorta what i meant. there has been a worldwide trend in the reduction of emissions since the late 80s. 9/26/2005 5:08:38 PM |
