Quote :
"GOVERNMENT AND COMPUTER MANUFACTURERS CAUGHT INSTALLING HARD-WIRED KEYSTROKE LOGGERS INTO ALL NEW LAPTOP COMPUTERS!

Turner Radio Network | October 4, 2005

Devices capture everything you ever type, then can send it via your ethernet card to the Dept. of Homeland Security without your knowledge, consent or a search warrant each time you log onto the internet!

Freedom Of Information Act Requests For Explanation From DHS, refused.

[...]

The real life implications of this are plain: Computer manufacturers appear to be cooperating with the Department of Homeland Security to make every person who buys a new computer subject to immediate, unrestricted government recording of everything they do on those computers! EVERYTHING!

This information can be sent to DHS, online, without your knowledge or consent, without a search warrant or even probable cause! That's why this device is hard-wired directly into the ethernet card, which communicates over the internet!

I am not certain how long this information will be permitted to remain online for all the world to see before the government takes some type of action to attempt to have it removed from public view. I URGE you to take copy of this page immediately and spread this information to everyone you know immediately."

"COMMENT:

Sadly, this is nothing new or surprising. The government has been caught time and time again secretly colluding with industry to force people into their control mechanisms against their will and without their knowledge. No one wanted a to have their inspection sticker RFID tagged so that their vehicle could be tracked, but they rolled out the legislation anyway. We beat it once, but no doubt it will be back. No body wanted to pay extra for an automobile black box to monitor their every automotive move, but the auto industry is doing it anyway. And certainly no one wanted to have the government track their cell phone and spy on them, but never the less, it was done and in complete secrecy. They are aware that we can easily see through their schemes so they have to hide them. No longer can they simply invoke "safety" and have the population gladly accept the invitation their track and control prison. Now they just do it and hope no one notices."

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

that was some good shit! you know you are paranoid when you start typing shit likke that

so, please tell me. How is a device which is "hard-wired directly into the ethernet card" going to log key strokes from the keyboard?

seriously. the bitch got hacked. he called the police, and they told him to call someone else. he goes nuts thinking that means that the "someone else" he is told to call is the person who put it in there. He then goes and calls that "someone else" and they don't have a single thing on it, so he assumes that that means they are doing something, when really it just means they don't have any information on it that is relevant to his request. But, they say "its exempt," in order to maintain deniability.

and, this is all, of course, under the assumption that the guy is telling us the truth and didn't just send some crazy ass request for info on the stealth fighter and then post the rejection letter on the int4rweb while claiming it was a denial of a request for information about some random hack that someone purpetrated against him...

jesus you fucking moron - RFID tags can only be read within a radius of 30-40 feet at the MAX

WHAT THE FUCK are you talking about - exactly HOW would an RFID tag allow tracking of vehicles? this is a classic example of why its so stupid to read this stupid shit. just imagine how much more inaccurate information is behind all this stupid ass paranoia

you would think that some super duper extensive gov't conspiracy to snoop on our every move and invade our privacy would be able to better conceal its methods of snooping. I mean, jerry rigging every laptop made in such a way? Why not actually infiltrate the designers of laptops (you are super duper complex, and all. you should be able to) and covertly design it into the laptop seamlessly, so that even inspection of the laptop as described by this person (who somehow broke a PCMCIA card slot INSIDE his computer with only a short bit of use, too) would not yeild such an obvious connection...

"Paranoia"? I don't think so.

They didn't say "track AT LONG RANGE". They just said that RFID could be used to track cars, which is true. The government can install the readers along the highway on signs, etc. to track vehicles.

RFID tags are already used to track a variety of items. They are being put into products and inventory by businesses.

This article says RFID is already being used to track people, and the U.S. government plans to use RFID tags in passports and drivers’ licenses.

http://www2.csoonline.com/blog_view.html?CID=11513

Quote :
"Electronic Tags Used to Track Immigrants

The use of new electronic devices to track products, pets, and people using radio frequencies is growing at what privacy advocates say is an alarming rate, given concerns that the technology is being implemented without proper safeguards, in both the public and the private sectors.

Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is used around the world in everyday consumer products from produce to beer kegs to DVDs. Increasingly it is being tested as a method to track people and in schools, prisons and transit systems.

Most disturbing to privacy advocates and civil libertarians are US government proposals to use RFID tags in passports and drivers’ licenses, and in a new pilot program launched this summer that has placed RFID tags in immigrants’ visas.

RFID devices, from pinhead sized minichips to flat tags inserted into a piece of paper, contain miniscule antennas that pass the information it contains after entering the range of a scanning device. Most RFID technology in use now is "passive," which means it does not contain an internal power supply and can only transmit information from a distance of up to about 30 feet. "Active" tags have an internal power source, can be read from further distances, and can store information sent from a transceiver."

If someone told you 5 years ago that the U.S. government had plans to implement a national ID card, declare martial law, scrap Posse Comitatus, and confiscate firearms from U.S. citizens you might have said that was "crazy" or "bogus" as well.

Salisburyboy, please go to snopes.com and reread whats been investigated.

You shouldn't worry about keylogging, but rather security programs downloaded by mainstream software to verify the authenticity of said software. For instance, Blizzard's World of Warcraft scans and logs all open string values created and used by running processes.

That "article" on the Dell break apart is several months, if not a year old, at it was a proven fake BY THE AUTHOR himself. Not to mention if our computers were sending out information online without us knowing, it would be EXTREMELY easy for the user to detect.

Well yeah, because they would have failed to mention that it was being done on a limited scope in a disaster area where local governments have proven inadequate to respond.

Of course, context is everything in the world of paranoia, but we know that's never bothered you one bit.

I'd love to see the MASSIVE computer system that could handle, track, and sort the incoming traffic of every single keystroke made by every computer in the United States let alone the entire globe.

i'd also like to see a keylogger that could be hardwired into the ethernet controller and actually send any meaningful data without having to traverse the operating system...

it should scare you all, more than that, that keystroke-loggers can come in the form of simple computer-viruses!!

it does not require hardware

If keystroke logging becomes required by law on private computers, then we must start an other civil war...

The government may not look in my computer, and that is final!

^It would be scary, if it were true, but it's clearly not true in this case.

Plus, such a device would be easy to bypass, and I can't see the gov. ever requiring loggers to be in HW, mandatory.

Plus, as of yet, there's no viruses for Mac OS X, so i'm safe in that regard.

if it comes in the form of software it'd be easier to detect and get rid of, esp if a virus.

Uhh, software cannot exceed the limitations of the machine it occupies, whether that machine is a single 8 bit micro or a vast network of a billion computers, it cannot exceed the available parts.

For example, no amount of software can convince me that my computer is alive or start moving objects with telekinesis.

"I.D. CHIP USED IN U.S.

CITIZENS UNKNOWINGLY IMPLANTED!
An unknown number of U.S. citizens may have been unknowingly implanted with I.D. chips according to our sources. This was discovered when one of our members recently came from the dentist and told us that his dentist had tried to implant such a device in his tooth. "He called it a 'filling' or something like that! I just went there for a toothache and he tried to drill a hole in my tooth and then implant this thing!" said Private BuddyBob Pervus. Pervus went on to say that he was able to subdue and interrogate the dentist. The dentist admitted to have implanted these "fillings" in hundreds of patients. "Lord knows how many folks got these things in em!" yelled Pervus. Under interrogation, the dentist admitted to doing this for years and said it was common practice. Pervus said that his uncle had once received a filling in the 1960's and began picking up local radio stations. Pervus then became suspicious when the dentist became so intent on putting the filling in his tooth. "I knowed the UN/NWO/Amishsters was tryin to track us and we had been warned about this I.D. chip thing. I just put two and two together and figured..."A, they wanted to put a chip in me, B, this here dentist tried to put a filling in me, and three, what better way to do it than to call it filling a tooth?!" said Pervus. Pervus said that anyone else would probably have let the dentist do it, but he became suspicious since he only had one tooth. Pervus wondered why the dentist would go to all that trouble for one tooth. "I only went cause my wife made me! She said she couldn't stand the smell of that rotten tooth no longer." Pervus said he now will be unable to be I.D. tagged because he pulled his tooth out to prevent future implantation."

Quote :
"Our investigation revealed evidence of early Amish I.D. systems and their attempts in Lancaster. These early systems were crude and not embraced by the public. Therefore the Amish grudgingly embraced the new I.D. chip technology and began the plan for identification of the entire U.S. population.

Above left: early Amish I.D. tracking hand implant using cowbell . Not received well by the populace in Lancaster. Was abandoned after failed attempts to recruit volunteers. "

InsaneMan is right. We've done it at work to catch specific instances of people doing bad things. Something like a keystroke logger would never be an added hardware piece... it would be by far easier to detect and by far easier to remove.

Software can be TEMPORARILY limited by specific hardwares, but when that hardware is gone, the software will still work, and will run exponentially faster.

Quote :
"For example, no amount of software can convince me that my computer is alive or start moving objects with telekinesis."

Thats not a fair test because NOTHING would convince you of that, and the computer is not yet connected to a telekinesis device.
