If any of your have had as many problems as I have with cable and internet through TWC, you're probably pretty fed up by now. They have been to my house a number of times for various problems...but what I didn't know is that you can get your account credited when you call if the issue cannot be resolved over the phone...so for example, if it is Friday afternoon and they can't get a tech to your home until Sunday, tell them you would like your account credited for those three days. Sure, it's only $4 dollars or so but it's $4 they arn't getting for SUCKING.

yea u just kinda learn to deal with TWC sucking. they have a monopoly down here unfortunately so if u want cable u have to go through them. the only alternative is satellite which i've heard so many good things and bad things about; it's hard to actually make a decision on whether satellite is better to go with. 10/15/2005 3:10:08 PM |

Yeah, I'm not so bummed out about the cable because we got it for free for like 8 months so I'll just stick with basic through TWC, but the internet is ALWAYS out it seems....Anyone have Earthlink??? Is it any good? Worth switching...? 10/15/2005 3:11:54 PM |

a monopoly only exists when 1 company controls the market. that is the case here with TWC. where i'm from I have a choice of 2 cable companies, thus neither are a monopoly. so cable service is NOT a monopoly everywhere. 10/15/2005 3:42:22 PM |

I canceled all my TWC shit except for RR....went from $200/month to 29/month. when they asked me why i said "cause your shit sucks"
the thing is i was really only paying for the premium channels and HD channels on Demmand service and 9 times out of 10 it would either freeze mid way through the show or never download the show. so it wasn't worth it at all

Our internet has been on the blitz for weeks at a time..We've had two different modems and they're had to recconect it three different times. When we first had it hooked up, we had a signal of -15, which is the lowest it can be so a week later they were back out here putting in a line for us to have decent signal.
I just found it very interesting that they never offer to credit your account and I don't think many people know that they will do it SO ASK THEM TO CREDIT YOU IF IT GOES OUT!!!

they arent all bad. I ordered digital cable about a month ago and was offered free dvr for 6 months. Unfortunately I saw my bill and they charged me $105 (internet and Digital 1000) which included a $7 dvr charge. I called to complain...they said the customer rep. offered me a deal that no longer existed...i complained more...they offered me credit for 6 months....and dropped my monthly charge to $87.58 for everything! 10/15/2005 6:48:10 PM |

they piss me off because they wont offer ESPN 2 HD, ESPN U, NFL network, etc
i went up to VA over fall break and they have Adelphia cable there, they had all that shit. ESPN 2 HD and NFL Network HD were both in their HD channel pack like we have here, and theirs was only $5/month compared to the $7 TWC charges for less channels.

Actually, thanks for the info. Our connection at this apartment has been pretty stable but at my old place it was constant calls untill i finally convinced them that their craptastic modem didnt work, (lo and behold, it was fixed after i went down there and got a different modem myself...). I wish i'd known you could do that then. 10/15/2005 11:08:56 PM |

ive had comcast, and now have charter....time warner blows them both out of the water in every phase of the game

Does anyone know why the cable bill is $20 higher this month?
Mine is normally around $70 but this month it is just under $100. It is just basic service and RoadRunner.

Attn: Time-Warner Cable Customers
If you pay full price for any service they provide, then you're an idiot.
I have learned that, even though twc has a monopoly on the area for cable service, they are the easiest company to get discounts from. The catch is you have to call and cancel a service to get a price match. they will go through the service disconnection bullshit with you over the phone, but the last question they will ask you is why you want to disconnect the service. all you have to tell them is you can get the same exact service through another company cheaper e.g. bellsouth dsl for $29.95 or vonage digital phone for $24.95. now they will try to give you a discount for 3 months but then just tell them to continue with the disconnection because you shouldn't have to get a discount for only 3 months when you can get it from the other company permanently. tell them that if they will match the price for a year minimum (that is the most they'll do since other companies do raise their price), then you'll stay with twc. they will match the price. i've been doing this for 6 years. after a year, the price will go back up but just do a price search and see what other companies are offering the same service for and go through this again.
example: i have cable, rr, and phone through twc. my bill is 29.95 for basic/standard cable (i dont care about that digital shit), 29.95 for roadrunner, and 24.95 for phone service. i've thought about just actually switching to the other companies since i really do hate twc, but going through this process once a year is worth it to me to just have one bill for the three services. 11/26/2005 11:44:24 AM |
