So in my lab, we have this driving simulator that we're working with.

It runs off of 3 computers, one controlling each display. However, the graphics card in the computers keep going out every few months or so. I will try to get some more specs on the computers themselves today when I am on campus in lab just to provide more info.

But here is where the problem comes in. My advisor ordered 3 graphics cards that SHOULD work with the system http://www.nvnews.net/reviews/xfx6600gtagp/index.shtml, however, the AGP slot seems to be reversed, so the card won't fit in. Updating the actual computers isn't really an option because then we would need new displays capable of showing a certain resolution. I guess the question is......

is there some type of adapter or controller that can be plugged into the mother board to allow these graphics cards to fit?

the card that we are trying to install is GF 6600gt 128 MB DDR3 Dual DVI TV ver. c3

are you sure its AGP and not PCIe?

then obviously they just installed the slot onto the motherboard wrong. take the metal piece off the video card and install it in backwards(the right way). then just run the monitor cable into the system through the hole that the metal piece should be in. just connect it like normal internally. this happens every now and again.

maybe your boss bought the pcie version of the card?

that's the card if I remember correctly. I'm going to take my camera to the lab and take some pics.....I realize I haven't given too much info about the CPU itself

If the AGP slot lines up exactly with your card but is reversed, it means that the computer has a different version of AGP than your video card.

Old slow AGP:

ok, I'm in the lab now looking at the CPU's guts

it looks like the CPU has one of the older AGP slots, hence why the new card wouldn't fit in

any other suggestions my friends other than getting a new motherboard?

There isn't any type of adapter that will do this. Its either new vid card or new mobo.

^ yeah, the problem is more than just the shape of the slot, it's voltages and frequencies and other crap too that a simple adapter wouldn't solve
