Does anyone know of any good movies that are rich in symbolism? I have to write a paper about a movie with symbolism in it, and though I know of some, I wanted to get more ideas. Any ideas? 10/19/2005 10:55:46 AM |

do you mean like
"that lamp right there, that stands for opression"
or
"that guy right there, he stands for FDR"

To Kill a Mockingbird...
While the most boring piece of trash of ever seen, every Highschool English teacher swears by ths symbolism and hidden meanings in this movie.
I personally think they're over analyzing but hey... it's on the HS curriculum. 10/19/2005 11:08:19 AM |

wizard of oz was all about symbolism for the turn of the 20th century. tin man represented the industrialists who had no heart, scarecrow represented farmers who had no brains because they were being taken advantage of by the govt. and didn't even realize it. the lion represented some guy running for president at the time who lost (i forget his name) and showed no courage, got walked all over. even the yellow brick road was symbolic but i forget them all now, we discussed it a lot in US history my junior year of high school 10/19/2005 11:33:56 AM |

whenever i watch the wizard of oz
i realize how stupid dorothy is
she has a prime directive - "stay on the road so the witch cannot have power over you"
and what does she do she keeps leaving the road
so whenever i watch it i have to yell "GET BACK ON THE BRICKS BITCH" everytime she steps off the road 10/19/2005 11:35:47 AM |

BLADE RUNNER
This is a movie with a lot of symbolism. Just look closely and you will see it. It's not too long either...about 2 hours. It is entertaining as well. 10/19/2005 1:48:15 PM |
