So I want a new in dash DVD player with LCD screen becuase the one i currently have broke. So I went to the best buy website (I HAVE to buy the deck there) and it says that none of the decks have will fit in my 2001 dodge durango. It also says they only have like ONE regular CD player that will fit as well. But the truck is pretty basic and has a single DIN deck in it currently and the one before was single DIN too! Why am I being told that nothing will fit? 10/20/2005 5:02:44 PM |

looks really hot and 'stock' in my STI. Won't play DVD videos in the DVD-rom but you can watch movies on it if you hook up a external DVD player. Personally i don't care for this since i bought it for Ipod dock, XM, and Navigation. 10/20/2005 6:08:16 PM |

I Think-->not if it's in park. If best buy installs it they will put a switch in that disables the screen from coming out unless the car is in park. Maybe that's not true in NC but they had to do it on PimpMyRide. But that would be so difficult to bypass. 10/20/2005 6:08:19 PM |

all you have to do is A) install it yourself B) ground the parking brake lead
It is really quite simple if you do it yourself. At least it was in my subarau 10/20/2005 6:11:21 PM |

uh yeah. installing a deck in any car is the same damn thing. match the wires up and connect. (not by color, for example my car's wires are different colors than my decks)
I'm sure he can do the same thing i did on google. Search for (how to remove old head unit for his specific car) and download a wireing chart for his car. Did mine in an hour without knowing shit about it. 10/20/2005 7:09:13 PM |

most in-dash dvd players/lcd screens are standard 1 or 2 din sized and thus will fit
i've never been pulled over or even anything close to it for having a movie playing/music video/visualizations/blah/blah - likewise with gps - if you actively watch porn on it then it is very possible you could get pulled over (a guy in nyc did b/c a mom pulled up next to him with her kids in the car and saw the headrest lcd)
you are 100% safe if someone else is in the car 10/20/2005 8:10:11 PM |

^6, good luck getting an alpine to play video grounding the parking brake wire. Also on any of the new Pioneer units with navi, grounding the parking brake will not allow you to view video while the car in in motion. It uses the VSS wire (that you hooked up for your nav) so it knows how fast you are going and will turn off video around 15 mph. there is a way of disabling this but from what I hear it involves dropping solder onto a circuit board to connect 2 contacts. I havent tried this, and not sure if I want to either. also the avicd1 will not fit in your durango (which sucks because its only $1300 after rebate right now) any other single din unit will work fine. 10/20/2005 9:09:09 PM |

not true on the new units. the N2 figures out you are moving and gives the appropriate errors/locks out screens after moving for a few seconds. it does however have a video out for other screens and a video in for monitoring a rear view camera that works all the time...you can figure out what to do
