1) I'm sorry if this has already been posted somehow.

2) I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question.

My muffler is hanging quite low - not "immediate danger" low, but still low.

I just found out that I have to drive to Danville, VA tomorrow and I'm worried about it.

Can I fix it myself?

How?

Thank you thank you thank you awesome garage people.

umm take it to a muffler shop those of us who can weld don't really like to assume the liability of having molten metal near fuel, brake lines etc.

coat hanger = temporary fix, after that take it to a muffler shop and get em to put a new hanger on, or figure out what the problem is.

dont put zip ties on a muffler unless you want some melted zip ties and a muffler that is hanging again after a few miles...

I had a '93 camry back in high school and as a joke took out the cat (b/c it was bolt on/off) for a day. HOLY SHIT it was so incredibly loud and obnoxious and shook the floorboards terribly. It was good for a laugh though.

But back on subject, is the noise from the exhaust system getting louder/changing at all, or is the only symptom that it is hanging low? If it's just hanging, then I'm with everybody else, a coat hanger as a temp fix, then muffler shop to permanently repair. DO NOT PAY MORE THAN $50 to get this fixed if it's just hanging, and don't let them talk you into a new muffler. Good luck!
