1. Bush wasn't placed under oath
2. Cheney went with him to hold his hand.
Quote : | "WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush said Thursday he "answered every question" posed to him by the 9/11 commission during what was described as an extraordinary session at the White House with the panel investigating the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
"It was wide-ranging, it was important, it was just a good discussion," Bush told reporters in the White House Rose Garden, shortly after the closed-door session ended.
The entire 10-member bipartisan commission -- known formally as the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States -- attended the meeting in the Oval Office.
Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney answered questions from the commissioners for more than three hours.
The president dismissed suggestions that he appeared before the panel with Cheney to coordinate stories.
"If we had something to hide, we wouldn't have met with them in the first place," Bush said. "We answered all their questions."
Bush said it was important for him and Cheney to appear together so that commission members could "see our body language... how we work together."
Bush described the session as "cordial," but declined to provide any details about topics discussed. He said he was never advised by White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales -- who attended the session, along with two members of his staff -- not to answer a question." |
Quote : | "No transcript
Bush and Cheney did not testify before the panel -- they were not under oath and there was to be no recording made of the session nor a stenographer in the room." |

I highly doubt he will. From all the news that's coming out, it seems like he was left in the dark with regards to the entire Valerie Plame case. It probably won't go beyond Cheney or Rove. 10/26/2005 10:47:28 AM |

Quote : | " Q Scott, you have said that you, personally, went to Scooter Libby, Karl Rove and Elliot Abrams to ask them if they were the leakers. Is that what happened? Why did you do that, and can you describe the conversations you had with them? What was the question you asked?
MR. McCLELLAN: Unfortunately, in Washington, D.C., at a time like this, there are a lot of rumors and innuendo. There are unsubstantiated accusations that are made. And that's exactly what happened in the case of these three individuals. They're good individuals, they're important members of our White House team, and that's why I spoke with them, so that I could come back to you and say that they were not involved. I had no doubt of that in the beginning, but I like to check my information to make sure it's accurate before I report back to you, and that's exactly what I did.
Q So you're saying -- you're saying categorically those three individuals were not the leakers or did not authorize the leaks; is that what you're saying?
MR. McCLELLAN: That's correct. I've spoken with them. " |

How would the president not know about the leaks?
If Bush didn't know, did he call his staff in and ask them if any one of them leaked the information?
If the staff lied to him, then they should be fired.
If the one of staff said "yes" back in 2003, he should have fired them on the spot.
It comes down to the famous Watergate question of, "What did the president know, and when did he know it?"10/26/2005 11:28:12 AM |

DuH.
"How would the president not know about the leaks?" Because no one told him. He gives out assignments and then they decide how to fullfill them. For example, he said "You go create support for a war!" and so they did.
"If Bush didn't know, did he call his staff in and ask them if any one of them leaked the information?" He knew better than to ask such an obviously explosive question and they were smart enough NOT to tell him.
"If the staff lied to him, then they should be fired." He never asked, they never told. No lies necessary.
"If the one of staff said "yes" back in 2003, he should have fired them on the spot." See above.
"It comes down to the famous Watergate question of, "What did the president know, and when did he know it?" He knew something had been leaked and he knew it when he read it in the newspaper like a good President. 10/26/2005 12:49:39 PM |

We should put him under oath and have him testify. We don't want this cloud of corruption and lies to hang over our commander-in-chief 10/26/2005 1:15:42 PM |
