What will be funny is when Annika Sorenstam and Paula Creamer beat his ass on national television.

I think he should be allowed to. Women scream bloody murder about not being allowed on the men's (Pro, not mens, but yes, mens) tour, and now they try to keep out men from the womens tour.

Whatever dykes.

Well, the problem is that unless you let the women hit off the women's tees, it is much harder for them to compete because their drives aren't as long in MOST cases, there are exceptions. But lets be perfectly honest here, golf isn't a sport so the bending the gender rules isn't as much of a deal... women can def. beat men in things like golf and autoracing, things that don't require strength or endurance (where men have an advantage)... and yes this guy is an idiot

You have never played a competitive round of golf then my friend. It is very grueling and very demanding and sometimes takes 6 hours. FYI, walking 18 holes is equal to walking 6 miles in most cases on top of hitting and strategy. Nascar drivers are going 200 MPH for about 5 hours so that also takes some endurance. Dont bash a sport just because you dont like it. Both require more mental toughness than hitting a baseball or shooting a basketball.

He didnt say that he wanted to play on the LPGA tour, just that he wanted to play in the women's British Open b/c St. Andrews decided to allow women to play in the men's open. This shit is funny though.

This is the stupidest reaction to the "integration" of women into the PGA by far.

First, this schmuck blew a three shot lead on the final hole of the British Open. Even with the crowd and the pressure of a British Open, Van de Velde became a household name for "goat" overnight. STFU and crawl back under the radar.

Secondly, the PGA split the PGA Tour from the LPGA tour so female golfers could get their own, albeit lesser spotlight (putting it mildly). If we have female golfers who can compete with the men, why not let 'em play. Why should they play for worse money on smaller stages against admitedly lesser competition?

i got the point he is trying to make, but I don't agree with it. If you let men play on the women's tour it will just become the buy.com tour (with all men), or whatever it's called this year, on the other hand, since the men's stage is seen as THE stage, anyone should be able to qualify.

the women's tour is important to help progress female athletics, letting men play will stunt that progress

in thoery....he will be driving most of the par 4's, on EVERY par 5 in two, and will have wedges into most of the par 3's...he SHOULD dominate and SHOULD be able to win every tournament he is in...so he should win alot more money than he would win the on PGA tour....

oh..and golf is s sport

oh......and this dude fell apart in the British Open like no person has ever fallen apart before

I'd guess, since I've never played in nor been to an LPGA event, that the women probably play from tees equivalent to about the whites at most courses we know of. Maybe even the blues, compared to playing the blacks on a course with them.

Golf is a game, not a sport. Does it require fitness, yeah. But so does figure skating (an event).

My thing with this is, how far can they take this? Consider this: The Champions Tour (formerly the Senior PGA Tour) is for players 55 and older. Golfers who play on the Champions Tour can qualify for PGA events, but of course a 30 yr. old PGA pro can't qualify for a Champions Tour Event. Or consider this. The AJGA, the American Junior Golf Association. I think it's still 17 and under, maybe 18 and under now. Anybody over this age limit can't qualify for an AJGA event, but AJGA golfers can qualify for a PGA event if they are good enough. Of course the AJGA is not professional so PGA pros wouldn't be able to justify an argument saying that they should be able to qualify for the AJGA, but as far as the Champions Tour goes, they could justify that just as well as justifying playing in an LPGA event, although I can assure you this will never happen. So why is Van De Velde taking an irrational stance on this? Because the PGA Tour is the pinnacle of professional golf. There are other professional tours that separate people into categories: age, gender, etc., but the PGA Tour is supposed to be the best golfers in the world, so if a woman can qualify for a PGA Tournament she is obviously one of the best players in the world. I don't think he's thought this through, and there are some flaws in his argument.
