I am pretty on point with my SC predictions
Quote : | "I'm guessing next up will be minority, previous judge, outspoken conservative and the confirmation will happen very quickly." |
Obviously this guy isn't a minority, but the rest holds true. Confirmation is yet to occur, but Alito seems to be getting kind words from conservatives and has a lengthy resume, so it won't take nearly the amount time that Miers' failed confirmation did.
IMO Bush is trying anything at this point to gain back support. He's pissed off a lot of people who got him into office lately, so he picked the "obvious" candidate this time.10/31/2005 9:25:28 AM |

I'd say that at least I'm attempting to contribute some thoughtful discussion to this forum instead of posting nothing but one liners akin to "black people are lazy"... 10/31/2005 9:40:53 AM |

not to the Right
Scalia's the fundamentalist/literalist/originalist type who thinks the founder fathers where omniscient, infallible deities who anticipated all future legal issues.

Intrest groups on both sides wanted a bloodbath, now they get one.
(A funny comment on NPR this morning: both conservative and liberal interest groups were unhappy with Roberts' nomination because he was lousy for fundraising...) 10/31/2005 10:26:57 AM |

^^well, yes i know it draws on his similarity to scalia
but the thing on drudge made it seem like "scalito" is italian slang or something 10/31/2005 10:52:16 AM |

Because you know the only way to change what the constitution says is to make up shit and then lie about it. If congress and the states passed an amendment proclaiming that a women's right to an abortion cannot be violated, Scalia would be the first one to strike down any subsequent "law" to the contrary.10/31/2005 1:30:46 PM |
