I'm thinking about seeing this today at the Colony. Rottentomatoes.com gives it 95%, it sounds really interesting and Philip Seymour Hoffman is probably my favorite living actor.

Wouldn't you rather see it at Galaxy Cinema?
I have this to say about the film: PSH does an OUTSTANDING portrayal of Truman Capote. Catherine Keener's Harper Lee is cute as a button. And the story, for most of the film, is interesting (although a lot of people who would go out and see this probably already know the story). It will probably get some oscar nods and it might even win one.
That being said, there's about 30 minutes of the film that just drag. That, and this film isn't anything really new. It's a pretty conventional biopic. Most people will love it, though, and I have to say once again that Philip Seymour Hoffman blew this shit out of the water.
Playing at Galaxy Cinema at 2:10, 4:30, 7:10, and 9:30. 11/1/2005 12:58:11 PM |

Eh, if you're coming from campus, the Galaxy is a little farther distance-wise but it takes less time to get there. 11/1/2005 1:17:57 PM |

I would be surprised if he didn't win the Oscar for Best Actor for the role -- and yes, I agree that the film did drag significantly in certain parts, but Hoffman's performance made it a worthwhile experience for me. 11/2/2005 4:28:52 AM |

I too thought it kind of dragged on but it kind of had to because the trial dragged on and he had to wait for the ending of his book. 11/2/2005 9:12:30 AM |

saw it earlier, and let me say god damn! Philip Seymour Hoffman was amazing.
The trial dragged a bit, but jesus, the killing scenes all but made up for that. i'm kinda putting off going to bed because of one of them because it freaked me out a bit 2/14/2006 2:20:00 AM |

I finally got around to watching this at the Galaxy. I agree with Spookyjon, great movie, lagged for a bit, but great nonetheless.
I think PSH deserves his award and maybe now he won't be typecast as Jack Black II.
It was my first time at the Galaxy too, pretty nice little theater. 3/6/2006 3:44:55 AM |
Woodfoot All American 60354 Posts user info edit post |
i don't really think he has been typecast as anything
ever
in fact i'm pretty sure he has the most diverse resume of any actor working now
he is like a good samuel l. jackson 3/6/2006 10:48:25 AM |
