Some cheap operating software, I don't really want to spend a lot of money. 11/2/2005 1:27:54 PM |

Windows XP Pro for $70 at the bookstore, I believe. 11/2/2005 1:38:20 PM |

that's an upgrade and "requires" a previous version of windows. but if you know someone with a windows me disc sitting around... that'll work I think. 11/2/2005 1:39:20 PM |

Is this list recent?

note that on the right side of the screen it lists the "student select" stuff:
Quote : | " Office 2003 Std. $59.95 Office 2003 Pro. $69.95 Office 2003 Mac $59.95 Windows XP $69.95 " |
The list on the page itself is general software that students, faculty, and staff can buy. The "select" stuff hidden on the right is only for students.
The windows "xp" you see is an upgrade, and not a stand alone install. I think it just requires verification of a previous version of windows though, not sure how it does it. It may just require you to insert a previous windows version disc (98 or newer) or actually require a previous version of windows to be installed. Don't really know.11/2/2005 1:47:35 PM |

Dang, this stuff is expensive! Gonna make some calls 11/2/2005 1:59:24 PM |

you honestly think 69.95 is expensive? If you need the full stand-alone install, just buy an IDE cable or something from intrex and get the OEM version of the os with it. home should be like 40 bucks, pro like 130 or so. 11/2/2005 2:05:53 PM |

does anyone know how I could upgrade my XP home to XP pro without re-installing everything?
I have like 3 XP Pro licenses lying around. 11/2/2005 2:07:30 PM |

I'm pretty sure I remember doing the upgrade with one of the upgrade discs and all it did was install some shit and reboot a couple times. none of the settings or installs were lost. 11/2/2005 2:09:38 PM |
