I'll be desert bound shortly, and i've lost my belief somewhere along the way. Without being dramatic looking for a prayer group or something to cover my ass. I'm not looking for your opinions about religion or my beliefs, so please keep them to yourselves. If you're a christian religious group that IS NOT overbearing and trying to change my life, please respond. I'm looking for a group to possibly pray with me without judging my beliefs. Thank you.

if you want something helpful, I advise not asking here, but if you watch Joel Osteen on Sunday mornings, he is totally incredible. I am not Christian, I am Muslim, but seriously when I watch the stuff he says, it is very helpful and he has a great book too. If you go to his website, I think you can watch it online too, and he says group prayers at the end. Good LUCK 11/5/2005 11:32:57 PM |

I would like to be the first to say...
You're retarded.
I suggest watching the show "Neon Genesis Evangelion" though, you can probably find it at Blockbuster. The first 2 or so episodes are kind of slow, but stick with it, you'll like it. 11/6/2005 1:22:15 AM |

The church i go to on sunday mornings, Vintage21, might be what you're looking for. The tag line for the church is that we're a group of God followers, God doubters and God seekers. I think about 25% of the people there every sunday would not identify as christian....they're just checking it out. And they usually feel comfortable. We're at 209 Oberlin Rd., and the services are 9:30 and 11:15. Also, the third tuesday of every month is Theology on Tap at Mitch's where we sit around, drink beer, and contemplate life and faith. 11/6/2005 2:09:33 AM |

to be perfectly honest
it almost sounds like my old (as in, haven't regularly attended since early, early high school) church would work
united church of christ tends to be very willing to pray with you without judging your beliefs 11/6/2005 2:51:35 AM |

although I have not attended, Pullen Memorial Baptist on Hillsborough St. seems to be a very open minded congregation
here is their website:

depends on how open-minded you're looking for. if you want "radically" open minded and xtn, try the unitarian universalists. 11/6/2005 8:57:24 PM |

unitarians aren't a "christian religions group", though
and if you want radically open minded, i'm think some Branch Davidians survived the fire, or you could try to find some of those Kool-Aid drinking freaks.

if you want to split hairs,
Quote : | "Are Unitarian Universalists Christian?
Yes and no.
Yes, some Unitarian Universalists are Christian. Personal encounter with the spirit of Jesus as the christ richly informs their religious lives.
No, Unitarian Universalists are not Christian, if by Christian you mean those who think that acceptance of any creedal belief whatsoever is necessary for salvation. Unitarian Universalist Christians are considered heretics by those orthodox Christians who claim none but Christians are "saved." (Fortunately, not all the orthodox make that claim.)
Yes, Unitarian Universalists are Christian in the sense that both Unitarian and Universalist history are part of Christian history. Our core principles and practices were first articulated and established by liberal Christians.
Some Unitarian Universalists are not Christian. For though they may acknowledge the Christian history of our faith, Christian stories and symbols are no longer primary for them. They draw their personal faith from many sources: nature, intuition, other cultures, science, civil liberation movements, and so on." | -- http://www.uua.org/aboutuu/uufaq.html11/6/2005 9:44:59 PM |
