Whenever I look through away messages, at the very bottom of the entire profile, there is a dividing line (like the one between the away message and the profile) and a link that says "Less right clicks, use the Away Page!" that connects to http://buddyinfo.aim.com/away.
I haven't clicked on anything, even though it seems to be something associated with AIM, because I don't want to get a virus.
Does anybody else have this in their buddy windows? 11/7/2005 8:32:34 AM |

Obviously not a virus (I see it on my Mac too).
Seems AOL is trying a new way to place ads that won't depend on client... 11/7/2005 8:45:27 AM |

If you log in to the link, it's a really effective way to AIM stalk without having to be logged in to AIM. 11/7/2005 8:50:48 AM |

You log in (to an AOL domain), and it takes you to a forum-looking webpage where it lists sequentially (with formatting) everyone in your buddy list's away message and profile. I tried a name I rarely use, and it showed them to me (as well as my AIM status). It also has means for you to comment on people's stuff, which I would assume that anyone who also has that person on their buddy list can see.
It's kinda neat, I think. Their server is being DDOSed by everyone clicking the link though, going really slOOOOwly. 11/7/2005 8:54:00 AM |

yeah, it's not a virus. there's a link to the same page from the aim.com homepage
it's kinda shitty they're sticking it in there, but then again, we get the service and software for free 11/7/2005 9:14:22 AM |

^ Running adaware didn't remove it, AOL removed it.
It's gone for me too. 11/7/2005 10:02:31 AM |

I guess enough people complained between 8 a.m. (or whenever it was put up) and 10:10 a.m. 11/7/2005 10:11:17 AM |
