okay, I'm coming to raleigh this weekend and one of the items on my "to do" list is to get my car some new speakers. My current speakers are crap...I think POSSIBLY only 2 of them still work.
I don't want anything totally extravagent, but I still want something that I can pretend I can jam to when I'm driving down the road
I've got a Nissan Altima, '00...if that matters.
so since I'm a noobie at this...
-any particular speakers that I should look at -what would be the typical price-range I should expect for a set of decent speakers -does the actual cd player/radio thingy matter (I'm still using the factory installed player) or would it make a difference to get an after-factory player? -circuit city, best buy, or someplace else for purchase/installation
thanks 11/8/2005 6:16:12 AM |

A new headunit (cd/radio thingy) will make a world of difference even on stock speakers. look at crutchfield.com for speakers. Research them there, but don't buy them there. The prices are too high. A good set of speakers runs from $80 to $150 depending on size. If you want their warranty, go with a chain store. If you want to save money, have someone on here do it. Either tznami (something like that), myslef, or many others can do it. Look through classifiseds with a search for installers.

crutchfield is usually a good place to buy from if the manufactuer requires an authorized dealer to get a warranty. You won't have to pay tax and you can generally get free shipping. There are definitely cheaper ways of getting stuff, but if you are going to invest alot of money, it is nice having a warranty. Their customer service is awesome too.
oh yeah, if you want to install it yourself, crutchfield will send you step by step instructions and help you on the phone if you need it. Installing speakers and a new head unit isn't as hard as you would think.
