Where is the best place around here to go for your 21st birthday? I, of course, want to drink, but I will only want to partake of mixed drinks and perhaps a few shots. Where's the best bar or whatever to go to in Raleigh for a special occasion?
Also, I turn 21 on a Sunday, so should I wait and go the next weekend or are places going to be open late on Sunday?

i mean EV is the pretty generic place to go for 21. your friends can drink 1.50 coors light, and the bartenders know a lot of shots.

If you're not too worried about the money, you'd probably have fun on Glenwood at Hi-5 or Blue Martini and then working your way to Stool Pigeons, Hibernian, etc. Gives you a chance to move around a lot if you want to since it's your bday.

But if you're looking for a good place to just chill, I'd also recommend East Village.

EV or Stool Pigions. Hit up Rum Runners on Wednesday nights now that you can drink, cheap. The Saucer if you like beer, but it looks like you dont... The martini is kinda ritzy. i went in there with a camo ncstate hat on one time and got werid looks...

I've always been a fan of Hi-5 but during the school year prepare to be shoulder-to-shoulder with your closest few hundred friends...

Go to the blue martini

its not ritzy or upscale, if you think it is, you've probably lived in Dunn or some shit your whole life

the martini has TONS of mixed drinks, they're all really good too

the bartenders are great, and its a fun place

thanks for the early happy bdays...it's not my bday yet, still got a couple weeks to go (its on the 27th of november) Thanks for all of the suggestions as well. So is the blue martini upscale or not? I'm getting mixed reviews on here. Which of these places will have the BEST selection of mixed drinks? I want to have a lot to choose from. Also, which place has the best bartenders for making mixed drinks? Personal experiences are welcome.

The Blue Martini is more upscale than the other places in your list, but I don't think that very many people would feel out of place there. I fucking hate snobby people and I had a decent time there. The drinks were awesome and we were able to find a table pretty easily (mind you, it was a Thursday night). They have like a gazillion different Martinis there for you to try, which it sounds like you would really like. The only drawback is the martinis are like $8 a glass, which is pretty fucking expensive.

Rum Runners hands down! you'll get to go up on stage and the whole crowd will sing happy b-day to you. not to mention 75 cent well drinks on SUNDAY!!!

After Catina forgot my reservation we ended up going to underground bar for my boyfriends 21st (under Charlie goodnights, next to City Limits) and had an amazing time. They COMPLETELY catered to us for his birthday (mind you, we brought like 50+ people), but still, they were great.

Ok, update:

My b-day was on November 27...I went to Applebee's for dinner (had a strawberry margarita, it was great), then went to Blue Martini (the martinis were pretty good), Champions for some pool and beer (yeah I was already smashed by then, so I didn't taste the beer ), and then E.V. for a few shots...I had a great time
