I posted this in tech talk and got nothing. Figure I'll try the garage:
Quote :
"I'm looking for a replacement dash speaker for a '99 Grand Cherokee. The surround separated from the cone on factory infinity's (which are crap) and the only 2 1/4" speakers I can find are Power Acoustik at Best Buy. I'd rather find a better brand. Crutchfield says they dont have anything either. Going to have to check to see how much room there is to go bigger.
Google doesn't seem have much to offer."

Suggestions?

wjjeeps.com has the info on replacement speakers up there. bear in mind it isn't a tweeter, and its hard to find a full range speaker that small. its easiest to replace them with factory speakers every 2 years

I thought this might be worth bringing back. I found these on eBay:

I just ordered a set. I'm sure it's better than the blown factory ones, and it definitely will be better than having nothing there.

components, baffle the tweeters in the moulding on the dash

not the best sound, but the best if you're keeping factory amp and stuff

The infinity's that Jeep put in that model's dash are horrible. A friend of my dad's fixes wrecked jeeps and this is a continuously occurring problem. I'm hoping that these I got off eBay will sound good and last a lot longer than the factory set. People mentioned in their feedback that they thought they had a good sound. I'll post back when I get them in.

Got the speakers in. They're only tweeters, but they're 2.5" ones. They sound good. I just wish the 2 speakers in the front doors weren't subs only from the amp. The guy on eBay sent all the stuff to install them. A thumb screwdriver, door panel tool, and some wire strippers. Cheap tools, but still gets the job done.
