I'll be returning to the Triangle next year and need some advice for apartments in the Southpoint and Brier Creek areas.
I would prefer a nice, quiet apartment complex within close proximity to Duke's campus, but not close enough to be considered a student area. 11/11/2005 9:00:40 PM |

I did, but I was wondering if anyone had any personal recommendations. Anything can look good with the right photographer... 11/11/2005 9:06:39 PM |

Thought they had reviews on there too. To be honest I don't live in an apt now, but there are some in the same subdivision (Woodcroft). The opposite way from southpoint when you get off 40. The subdivision is huge and hooks into the Tobacco trails which go all the way to the Durham bull park. I think its a nice area to live. 11/11/2005 9:10:53 PM |

For Brier Creek, I'd recommend Ashley Park:

Nice neighborhood, apartments were built from 2002-2004 so everything is still in good condition. Lived there for 2.5 years.
My only gripe was that there was just 1 useable closet in my apt

That stinks -- but where I live now, we have no closets, so it's better than nothing, I guess! 11/12/2005 12:00:46 AM |

I live or have lived in a couple of complexes out here on the Durham side of Brier Creek, but I am so fed up with apartment life that I may not be much help to you. 11/12/2005 2:34:20 AM |

Some friends of mine had a place in Brier creek when it was only Bj's out there and they got a notice saying the market price for their rent was now 50% higher. They then moved and got charged more than their security deposit for damage. Now its a collections battle. Can't think of the place by name, but I imagine its expensive out that way now.
Lots of places close by, but lots of traffic. 11/12/2005 2:43:53 AM |

The trick is to not actually live adjacent to Brier Creek, but less than 5 minutes away. 11/12/2005 2:49:41 AM |

Yeah, I'm not looking to live within walking distance of the shopping centres, just in the neighborhood... 11/12/2005 11:14:37 AM |

What about the Morrisville area? Or is that just too close to Cary and therefore too expensive? Any recommendations? 11/12/2005 5:04:56 PM |

Yeah, it seems to be a nice location, but still close enough to everything. I grew up in eastern Wake county, so I'm a little unfamiliar with western Wake and into the Durham Chapel Hill areas. 11/12/2005 5:43:52 PM |

where I am referring to are apartment complexes which actually lie in durham county but by some fluke have morrisville addresses, such as "indigo" and "bridges @ wind river" 11/12/2005 7:13:05 PM |

i live in indigo and the reason we are "morrsiville" is because cary is all around us on one side and durham on the next. i think both are trying to annex us.
i like indigo, quiet, people keep to themselves.
equipment in TINY gym is sometimes broken
during the summer its kinda hard to swim b/c of all the kids - - but ample place to chill out in the chairs
it's okay 11/12/2005 8:02:49 PM |

I'm the one he was talking about. And the place was the Terraces at Briar Creek. I would highly recommend NOT staying here if only because the management here is completely horrible.
Veeeery long story short, when it was time for renewal of our lease, they quoted us a lower price and we got it in writing and then they realized they made a mistake and refused to accept our payment of the lower amount. It wouldn't have been so bad if they had just acknowledged they had screwed up and asked nicely for us to pay the difference, but they started off by sending us this threatening letter and INSISTING that we pay extra. Even when they were in the wrong. It ended up taking about 3 months and lots of threatened lawsuits before they agreed that they were in the wrong and allowed us to pay the lower amount. Then when we moved out they made up a bunch of false charges and turned us over to a collection agency for about $900.11/12/2005 11:55:31 PM |

Woodcroft is straight but don't live at those apartments literally right next to the mall. Too much traffic around there, and it's gonna be more expensive. 11/13/2005 12:03:07 AM |
