it's based solely on median income rather than the value of that dollar.

if you adjust these cities for cost of living, Raleigh would beat the shit out of #1 San Jose for example. And there are lots of places in the U.S. that would beat the shit out of Raleigh.

Oh yeh I've seen that house. The biggest one is across the street from the "Twin" houses. Yeh houses all around hillsborough/cameron village/ridge rd/lake boone trl/wade/glenwood etc are expensive.

^^ I was going to start law school this year and I was told to go to the school in the area where I wanted to practice (which is NYC area). Well cost of living, safe to say, is out of this world. If I could goto law school in North Carolina I would do it in a heartbeat but if I do it is unlikely I'd be given a job in my sector in NYC (corporate law).

Instead of getting a jump on law school I had to work an extra year (possibly 2) to afford to move..

My parents moved from Raleigh #7 to San Fran #3

** my g/f is in Vet School in FLA and she is lucky b/c finding a job in here area isn't dependent on where she went to school.. I couldn't imagine the debt we'd both be in if we both had to pay tuition and high cost of living

Oh and as far as the cost of living thing comparing Raleigh to S.F. My parents built a house here the same size as the one they bought near San Francisco and the house in S.F. cost literally $900,000 more and there is NO yard...
