which would offer best performance?
i have a stick comming today identical to one of the stick i have now but i already have 1 gig of ram. don't know whether to use the 512 somewhere else, or just have 1.5gig

I would think for most a gig is enough.
If it came down to 512 in one machine and 1.5 in the other I would just put a gig in each.
Otherwise go 1.5 11/14/2005 11:37:03 AM |

I would go with the 1gb dual channel. 11/14/2005 11:39:03 AM |

what is the big technical advantage of having RAM in duel channel versus single channel. like y is 1gig in duel channel better than 1.5 gig in single channel? 11/14/2005 11:59:27 AM |

none of the posts here can even be considered relevant or "right" without knowing the chipset and processor. 11/14/2005 3:56:38 PM |

I won't pretend like I read anand or some crap every day, but I recall the advantage of having dual channel being less than 10% improvement. 11/14/2005 4:14:58 PM |

the memory controller is dual channel on one side, (memory side) but a single pipe to your processor. performance increase of going dual channel is not going to be greater than that of 50% more ram 11/15/2005 10:30:48 AM |
