There is a historical error I'd like to point out.
Quote : | " It was back in October 1974 that the German sports car manufacturer from Stuttgart launched the world's first series production sports car with an exhaust gas turbocharger" |
is incorrect.
Chevrolet had the first production car with a turbo option with the Corvair. My Dad had one. They were awful and unreliable, but they were first.11/16/2005 8:33:47 AM |

^ thats not likely an error.. its like in sports where you make a stat on something so obscure that you're right. like most yard thrown by a left handed quarter back where the pass was under 10 yards.. if all you read is "most yards thrown" then people are going to say "thats wrong because blah blah has the most yards thrown".. but it was actually under some other conditions..
it says "series production sports car" which seems to be a designation for something.. and most likely the corvair is not one.. googling brings up multiple places where the corvette is mentioned (or a least in some corvette book) as the only American "series production sports car" since WWII. That could be outdated.. but it was probably written after the time of the corvair.. of course it could be wrong as well.. but thats just what i've deduced from searching on it..

I see your point. Also, calling the Corvair a "sports car" is a stretch. Although Dad's was pretty cool. '62 monza spider convertable. 11/16/2005 8:55:50 AM |

somebody was telling me that Saab made the first production car with a turbo, but then again he was a Saab owner 11/16/2005 1:16:32 PM |

its funny.. googling for that information gives interesting results.. a Saab registry site says the 99 Turbo was the first.. production started 1978.. porsche 930 turbo says 1976.. corvair turbo option 1962 11/16/2005 2:38:44 PM |
